PALM SPRINGS, CA: SUZANNE WESTENHOEFER AT THE COPA

Comic Suzanne Westenhoefer will perform at THE COPA (244 East Amado Road, Palm Springs CA - 760-866-0021) on Thursday & Friday, October 2nd & 3rd at 7:30 pm. Suzanne is, in a word: Candid. She's refreshingly candid, disturbingly candid and oh-my-god-she-just-said-that candid. Happily, she's funny, too. For over two decades, this bold and brazen out lesbian comedian has been traveling the world, sharing her heart and soul with audiences. Whatever is going on in Suzanne's life, you'll get an earful of it. She doesn't tell jokes. She tells the truth. Or the truth as filtered through her uniquely twisted life experience. Raised by a single mom in Pennsylvania's Amish Country, Suzanne knows what it's like to stick out like a sore thumb. It made her even more daring and precocious. Suzanne's extraordinary candor made a life in the closet impossible. The minute she knew she was a lesbian, everyone else knew, too. Luckily, someone put a microphone in her hand so we could laugh along with her. Call for cover/minimum information.

LOS ANGELES: DONNY MOST - SINGS AND SWINGS! AT VITELLO'S

Donny Most sings and swings with special guest Sarah Spiegel at VITELLO'S (4349 Tujunga Avenue, Studio City, CA - 818-769-0905) on Friday, October 3rd at 8:00 pm. Don Most is probably best known for his co-starring role as Ralph Malph in the long running television series "Happy Days". Don has a beautiful voice and has a wonderful way of delivering the lyrics of each well known standard that he performs. Whether it is a ballad, or swinging favorites like Clementine and Mack the Knife, audiences know they are in for a treat from the moment he enters the stage! The Regal Miz Sarah Spiegel has blended her Big Band 1930s and 1940s songs with an exciting new show that allows her multifaceted voice to shine through. The show is packed with classic song arrangements of the Big Band era. Call for cover/minimum information.

LOS ANGELES: KEVIN CABRAL AT THE GARDENIA

Kevin Cabral will perform at THE GARDENIA (7066 Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA - 323-467-7444) on Friday & Saturday, October 3rd & 4th at 9:00 pm. Raised on a small farm in Julian, California, he spent much time with his grandparents, whose recordings of The Ink Spots, Bing Crosby, Al Jolson, and additional music legends from the 20s, 30s, and 40s were played throughout the house daily, fostering an affinity and appreciation for the melodies and cultural history of the era that shaped its lyrics and sound. As he grew older, the range of his musical interests expanded to include the Great American Song Book, Rhythm and Blues, Gospel, old Country Western, Opera, and Dixieland, which has served him well in his appearances on stage, TV, and film. Call for cover/minimum information.

SAN FRANCISCO: VARLA JEAN MERMAN TO MAKE FEINSTEIN'S DEBUT!

Varla Jean Merman makes her long awaited return to San Francisco for her debut at FEINSTEIN'S AT THE NIKKO (222 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA - 866-663-1063) for three performances only, on Friday, October 3rd at 8:00 pm; Saturday, October 4th and Sunday, October 5th at 7:00 pm. Varla Jean, aka Jeffery Roberson, unveils a show of hilarious songs, videos and fabulous costumes, featuring Tom Shaw at the piano and Roberta Drake on drums. Jeffery Roberson starred in the musical Lucky Guy opposite Leslie Jordan Off-Broadway at the Little Shubert Theatre. He played the title role of Giancarlo Menotti's opera The Medium in New York at the Marjorie S. Deane Little Theatre last fall Off-Broadway. There is a $35-$55 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.

SAN FRANCISCO: BRAZILIAN GIRLS AT YOSHI'S

The Brazilian Girls perform at YOSHI'S (1330 Fillmore Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-655-5600) on Friday, October 3rd at 8:00 pm. The sexy/ quirky/ mysterious Brazilian Girls are three men - Didi Gutman on keyboards and computers, Jesse Murphy on bass, and Aaron Johnston on drums - and one woman, Sabina Sciubba, the vocalist who often enjoys wearing lacy eye masks on-stage and sings in no less than five different languages. Sciubba was born in Rome but grew up in Nice and Munich before settling in Brooklyn, NY. She first came to record buyers' attention when she recorded two jazz albums - You Don't Know What Love Is with pianist Chris Anderson and Meet Me in London with guitarist Antonio Forcione - for the English audiophile label Naim. Falling into the new, playful downtown scene that was revolving around the Nublu club helped speed the band's success. Like-minded bands like Wax Poetic and the Nublu Orchestra had made the club the hip spot in 2004 for adventurous pop fans and Brazilian Girls' free-form, bouncy kind of jamming fit right in. Soon they had the Saturday night slot at Nublu, and the East Village press had fallen in love with them. There is a $35 cover - dance floor open.
