SAN FRANCISCO: BOCA DO RIO - BRAZILIAN BEATS & BEYOND

Boca do Rio strengthens its foundation as the Mission's longest-playing, hardest-hitting, and freshest Brazilian-American funk band at YOSHI'S (1330 Fillmore Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-655-5600) on Friday, September 26th at 8:00 pm. After a decade performing all original material during the heyday of San Francisco's live music scene, Boca do Rio has evolved into a multi-layered electro-funk party boat with a sound that is fluid and edgy, adaptable and free. Born of the mixing of waters of Brazil and the San Francisco Bay, Boca do Rio has created musica organica - music that developed through the rhythm of living and working between the Americas. Boca do Rio performs all of its own compositions and these songs have been lived by these hard-working musicians as they have forged their voices as Brazilians, as Americans, and as Brazilian-Americans and everything in between. The result is an explosion of rich melodies and harmonies, anchored by the deepest beat on the planet. Eduardo Amado (bass), a native of Cabo Verde Africa, and Scott Johnson, an East Bay native, join forces to bring a propelling and unique swing - a dinga! Jacob Aginsky graces the festivities with his electro-wizardy on keys. Larry De La Cruz (saxophone) mines the harmonic depths for musical gems on this journey evolved of undeniable beats and pleasures. DJ Trop'a (France) brings analog soul to the scratch pads. Kevin Welch leads these adventurers through waters swift and deep. Dancing is a go-go! There is a $20 cover - Dance Floor Open

SAN FRANCISCO: CHARLES BUSCH AT FEINSTEIN'S

Chock full of outrageous personal stories, original characters, and classic songs - all perfumed with his own unique form of glamour - Busch will make his Feinstein's at the Nikko debut with a brand-new cabaret act. Joined by his longtime musical director Tom Judson, audiences can expect laughter, music, tears and sequins! Charles Busch continues to delight and re-define his craft as a master humorist, performer and camp icon. He is the author and star of such plays as The Divine Sister, The Lady in Question, Red Scare on Sunset and Vampire Lesbians of Sodom, which is one of the longest running plays in the history of Off-Broadway. SAN FRANCISCO: DIRTY LITTLE SECRETS WITH JAI RODRIGUEZ

Jai Rodriguez began his career at age 18 when he was cast in the role of Angel in the critically acclaimed Broadway musical RENT. Jai continued his Broadway career, appearing in shows like The Producers and Spinning Into Butter, and he created and performed the title role of Zanna in the Off-Broadway sensation Zanna, Don't!.
