NYC: A SOPHISTICATED REUNION: TERRI KLAUSNER, VALARIE PETTIFORD & TY STEPHENS

The Broadway at Birdland concert series presents A Sophisticated Reunion on Monday, July 7th at 7:00 pm atBIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080). Broadway's 1981 Sophisticated Ladies co-stars Valarie Pettiford, Terri Klausner, and Ty Stephens will bring swinging tunes, unmatched style and elements of their individual acts to the evening of music celebrating Duke Ellington. Songs like "Take The A Train," "Hit Me With A Hot Note," and "I Love You Madly" will be included in the concert, which will be under the musical direction of Ron Abel. Valarie Pettiford has illuminated stage, screen and television as one of the finest actress/dancer/singers today. She recently wrapped a 2-scripted feature film as Charlene Wilson, in Carl Weber's screenplays "Preacher's Son" and "Choir Director." She is always thrilled to be back on HBO inthe recurring role as Mary Wright in the hit series "True Blood." She also recurred on the critically acclaimed "Treme," and was cast as a series regular, by JJ Abrams in the pilot "Hope Against Hope." Terri Klausner starred on Broadway in A Chorus Line, Sophisticated Ladies and as Eva Peron in Evita. Her Off-Broadway credits include Goblin Market, Bed & Sofa, Lies and Legends, New Tunes, The Cole Porter Review and Oh! Coward!, garnering two Drama Desk Award nominations, a New York Drama League Award and an Obie Award. She has nominations from the National Academy of Concerts and Cabaret Arts and received the Bistro Award for her performance in This Life; The Songs of Portia Nelson. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pa., Ty Stephens is an award-winning singer/songwriter and recording artist (Grand Prize Winner Jazzmobile/Anheuser-Busch Solo JazzVocalist Competition, NYC, 2006, and First Place Winner R&B/Blues Category of the International Songwriting Competition 2002, for "Somethin' Strange"), co-writer and original cast of From My Hometown, co- writer/choreographer and star of the long-running Shades Of Harlem revue, and the new off-Broadway hit On Kentucky Avenue (Songbirds Unlimited Productions/ Step Forward Entertainment); appeared on Broadway in the original productions of Sophisticated Ladies and Marilyn, An American Fable. There is a $40 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

NYC: JIM CARUSO'S "CAST PARTY" MONDAYS AT BIRDLANDFEATURED OPEN MIC EVENT

Every Monday night at 9:30 pm, Broadway impresario Jim Caruso hosts "Cast Party", a combination open-mic, networking event and party atBIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) during which the biggest stars on Broadway relax on their night off by performing their favorite songs in an informal setting. Cast Party is a mix of music, impromptu performance and cocktail party revelry, where showbiz superstars, stunning jazz talents and cabaret glitterati hit the stage alongside up-and-comers to serve up jaw-dropping music and general razzle-dazzle. It's the ultimate spot to mix and mingle with talented show folk and their fans. There is a $20 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

NYC: YOUNGJOO SONG QUARTET: "BETWEEN" CD RELEASE EVENT

Youngjoo Song, one of Korea's leading Jazz pianists, will celebrate the release of his CD 'Between' at THE BLUE NOTE (131 West 3rd Street, NYC - 212-475-8592) on Monday, July 7th with shows at 8:00 & 10:30 pm. After graduating Berklee College of Music and Manhattan School of Music, she was able to exponentially climb Korea's Jazz charts in record sales and popularity where she then had multiple opportunities to perform with some of the most prominent artists from both Korea and the US. Her prompt escalation in the Jazz world enabled her to record eight albums with distinguished labels such as EMI, Warner and Sony of which "Free to Fly" was nominated for the Korean Music award in 2009, and "Love Never Fails" which won Korea's "Best Jazz Album" in 2010. Her new album "Tale of a City" won the "Best Jazz Performance" at the 2012 Korean Music Award. Young joo Song recorded and performed with some of the most prominent jazz musicians; including Steve Wilson, Mark Turner, Seamus Blake, Gretchen Parlato, Kendrick Scott, Marcus Gilmore, Vicente Archer, Rogerio Boccato. There is a $15-$25 cover.
