PALM SPRINGS: KEISHA D RETURNS TO ARTHUR NEWMAN THEATER

Local Palm Springs singer Keisha D will make her second appearance at THE ARTHUR NEWMAN THEATRE at the JOSLYN CENTER (73-750 Catalina Way, Palm Desert, CA - TKTS: 760-325-2731) in an all-new cabaret style concert on Sunday, July 13th at 2:00 pm. The show entitled; "Born To Sing", will feature Jazz, Swing, and everything in between with a few of her fan's favorites as well as Keisha's own favorites from a few of her inspirations like Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, Bessie Smith, and more. She has also invited another Valley favorite; Charles Herrera to join her, along with local sax players Michael Bolivar and John Bolivar, in addition to her musical director Charlie Creasy who'll accompany Keisha on the baby grand piano. The show is presented by Les Michaels as part of his Sundays In Summer Series. Keisha appears regularly in local clubs and restaurants as a solo artist and in musical variety reviews, and in stage musicals, most recently as "Melpomene" in Zanadu and "Motormouth Maybelle" in Hairspray. In 2008 Keisha won the prestigious Best Vocalist title in the McCallum Theater's highly acclaimed annual Open Call. An avid believer of giving back, Keisha is often asked to lend her talents for various Valley charities and is a featured vocalist at churches throughout the desert. There is a $11 cash cover at the door.

SAN FRANCISCO: JAFFA ROAD: A GENRE-BENDING GLOBAL CELEBRATION

Highly acclaimed Toronto-based Jaffa Road will perform at YOSHI'S (1330 Fillmore Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-655-5600 - ) on Sunday, July 13th at 7:00 pm. Named "World Music Group of the Year" at the 2013 Canadian Folk Music Awards and nominated for two JUNO Awards (2010, 2013) Jaffa Road is a highly acclaimed Toronto-based world music group made up of some of Canada's most exciting and innovative interpreters of inter-cultural music. Their music creates a unique sonic landscape that draws organically from the worlds of Jewish music, Arabic and Indian music, jazz, modern, electronica, rock, pop, and dub. The band has played festivals and concert halls all across Canada including Toronto's prestigious Koerner Hall. They have also played festivals in Brazil, Alaska, New York, and Georgia. Delighting audiences everywhere with their unique brand of genre-bending global fusion. There is a $25 cover.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA: FORBIDDEN BROADWAY: ALIVE AND KICKING! AT FEINSTEIN'S

FEINSTEIN'S AT THE NIKKO (222 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA - 866-663-1063) will present Forbidden Broadway: Alive and Kicking!, the wickedly funny parody of Broadway's biggest shows and brightest stars, for a limited three-week engagement, Thursdays through Sundays, July 10th through 27th. Showtimes are Thursdays & Fridays at 8:00 pm and Saturdays & Sundays qt 7:00 pm. Written and created by Gerald Alessandrini, Forbidden Broadway: Alive and Kicking! is filled with satirical vignettes of recent Broadway hits, including The Book of Mormon, Once, Newsies, and Les Miserables to name a few, as well as send-ups of Catherine Zeta Jones, Matthew Broderick, Patti LuPone, and Mandy Patinkin, among others. There is a $45-$60 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.
