WASHINGTON, DC: TESSA SOUTER AT BLUES ALLEY

Afro-British Caribbean vocalist Tessa Souter will perform at BLUES ALLEY (1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141) on Tuesday, July 15th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. On her 2004 debut, Listen Love (Nara), she evoked the sensuality and passion of Andalusian Spain and the Middle East with a mix of Pharoah Sanders, Sting, Pat Martino and original tunes. Her mostly standards follow up, Nights of Key Largo (Venus, 2008), won Japan's prestigious Swing Journal Gold Disc Award. But it's in her live performances that she truly shines. Souter mesmerizes audiences with her emotional depth and striking authenticity, and a rare wit that spices her individual style of jazz. Call for cover/minimum information.
