HERNDON, VA: NEXTSTOP THEATRE SUMMER CABARET SERIES - EVAN HOFFMANN

NextStop Theatre Company has announced the next bold, new offering in their ambitious inaugural season atNEXTSTOP THEATRE (269 Sunset Park Drive, Herndon, VA - 866-811-4111). Under the leadership of Series Producer, area based performing artist Jim Van Slyke, the company will present eighteen intimate concerts, featuring a eclectic mixture of Broadway stars, nationally acclaimed cabaret artists and some of the finest local singers in the DC Metropolitan area. Running from Friday, July 11th to Saturday, August 16th in the company's 114-seat black box theatre, audiences will be invited to grab a drink or snack from the bar and be transported for evenings featuring classics from musical theatre, jazz, rock, soul and even current hits. On Sunday, July 13th, NextStop's Producing Artistic Director Evan Hoffmann steps out from behind the curtains to take the stage at NextStop.

WASHINGTON, DC: MARCUS JOHNSON AT BLUES ALLEY

Award-winning keyboardist, composer and producer Marcus Johnson will appear atBLUES ALLEY (1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141) on Thursday through Sunday, July 10th through 13th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Johnson released his 12th CD titled, "This is How I Rock", in 2011. This album boldly signifies an evolution: Johnson's deliberate crossing into the pop/rock genre with a jazz spin, inspired by some of pop music's most celebrated songs, songs that remained a significant influence in the life of the and motivated his desire to pay tribute to some of the greatest pop hits. Marcus has performed at clubs throughout the United States and has been a featured performer at many jazz festivals, including his hometown Capitol Jazz Festival, the Bermuda Jazz Festival, Atlantic Artscape, the Latin Meets Jazz Festival and the Huntington Beach Jazz Festival.
