N.Y.STATE: JERRY GRETZINGER IN  WOMEN IN MY LIFE

Jerry Gretzinger is back with a vengeance, starring on Washington County's MAINSTAGE AT FORT SALEM THEATER (11 East Broadway, Salem, NY - 518-854-9200) as a once successful singer whose popularity is waning, in the new musical, Women in My Life, running for two weekends, Fridays through Sundays, July 11th through 20th slightly deviating from the Fort's normal schedule, with 8:00 pm shows on July 11th, 12th, and 18th, and matinees at 2:00 pm on July 13th, 19th and 20th. As Jerry Jerome, Gretzinger balances his career with his ex-wife, former girl friend, and the women with whom he lives but fails to commit. Tough enough he has to deal with them in his personal life, he employs them all as his backup group, which means he also deals with them dealing with one another. As the ex, Susan Cicarelli-Caputo, a fixture at the former NYSTI and Capital Rep, brings her years of theater experience to play against type as a sometimes bitter woman struggling with her own inability to separate from the man she has divorced. The former girl friend, played by Heather-Liz Copps, who sang opposite Gretzinger last year in the Not-So-Common Players' Music Man, observes from a distance as Jerry Jerome gives his ego needed strokes by hitting on the new girl in the backup group, played by Gretzinger's real-life fiancee, Erin Weaver. Women in My Life, the creation of Fort Salem's artistic director, Jay Kerr, contains serious autobiographical overtones. Call for cover/minimum information. CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE MEMBER EVENT

BOSTON: SCOTT FEINER & PANDEIRO JAZZ CD RELEASE SHOW

Medici Musica Productions presents Scott Feiner & Pandeiro Jazz to celebrate the release of 'A View From Below', their latest CD at THE REGATTABAR at the Charles Hotel (1 Bennett Street, Cambridge, MA - 617-395-7757) on Friday, July 18th at 7:30 pm. Scott Feiner has walked a fascinating road from the jazz world of Manhattan to the nightlife of Rio de Janeiro. Born in New York City, and formally a guitarist, Feiner received a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies/Guitar at the Hartt School of Music in Hartford, CT, where he studied with the legendary saxophonist Jackie McLean. During the early '90s he was a respected guitarist on the New York jazz scene, playing with some of the city's finest musicians. In 1999, during his first trip to Brazil, Feiner discovered the pandeiro, the percussion instrument that would become his passion and new means of musical expression. He moved to Rio de Janeiro in 2001 and after only a few years became a respected pandeirista, playing in the traditional settings of Rio. Feiner performs regularly at festivals and clubs in the US, Brazil and Europe. He is also known for being an ambassador of the pandeiro, introducing people to the instrument around the world through his workshops. There is a $16 cover.

TORONTO: GEORGE EVANS QUARTET AT THE JAZZ BISTRO

One of North America's best interpreters of the American Songbook, George Evans, returns to THE JAZZ BISTRO(251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) on Friday and Saturday, July 18th and 19th at 8:00 pm.
