TORONTO: COLEMAN TINSLEY SINGS BILL EVANS

Multi-instrumentalist Coleman Tinsley will sing the music of Bill Evans at THE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) on Tuesday, July 15th at 8:00 pm. Tinsley began his jazz career on the cornet. Following an unfortunate traffic accident, he switched to the acoustic bass and gigged as bassist for 33 years. A true improviser, he began to sing on a whim when attending a local jazz jam and has never looked back. Since discovering he is a baritone, Tinsley has been singing bebop, vocalese and ballads made famous by musicians such as Eddie Jefferson, King Pleasure and Johnny Hartman. On this particular evening, he will sing an evening dedicated to late pianist and composer Bill Evans. Selections will include songs from the Tony Bennett-Bill Evans recording and other masterpieces by the genius pianist. Mark Kieswetter is on piano with Ross MacIntyre on bass. There is a $12 cover.
