DC: LENNY MARCUS TRIO WITH "A TRIBUTE TO RAY BRYANT"

The Lenny Marcus Trio will present "A Tribute to Ray Bryant" atBLUES ALLEY (1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141 - ) on Wednesday, October 23rd with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Lenny Marcus hails from Washington, DC, beginning his jazz career studying with Ray Bryant, then moving to New Orleans where he worked for many years, studying with legends Ellis Marsalis & Alvin Batiste. He then went on to record with a host of stellar jazz artists, including David "Fathead" Newman, Charlie Byrd, Herb Ellis, Lou Donaldson, Frank Foster, Sonny Fortune, Brian Lynch, Jane Powell and many others. His album, SUN RAY - A Tribute To Ray Bryant, is a heartfelt homage to his first piano teacher and family friend. SUN RAY has recently been among the top jazz albums on the National Jazz Charts for radio airplay in the USA/Canada. Call for cover/minimum information.

D.C.: BRIAN SETTLES & CENTRAL UNION AT THE ATLAS

Brian Settles & Central Union will appear at ATLAS PERFORMING ARTS CENTER (1333 H Street NE, Washington, DC - 202-399-7993 - ) on Wednesday, October 23rd at 8:00 pm. Influenced by jazz greats such as Davey Yarborough, Charlie Young, and Arnie Lawrence, DC native, Brian Settles, presents a style all his own. A Duke Ellington School of the Arts and Howard University alum, Settles became known for his, "creative, risk-taking," freely swinging between traditional and unconventional forms of jazz. His band, Central Union, featuring Corcoran Holt on bass, Jeremy Carlstedt on drums, percussionist, Jean Marie Collatin-Faye and pianist, Neil Podgurski, forms a cohesive unit of melody and flow. Call for cover/minimum information.
