NEWPORT: MARLENE VER PLANCK RETURNS TO RHODE ISLAND

Jazz vocalist Marlene Ver Planck will perform at (30 Memorial Boulevard, Newport, RI - 401-849-6312 - ) on Wednesday, October 23rd at 8:00 pm. She is joined by Dick Lupino and Mack Chrupcala. Marlene got her start in the big-band business, as a very young vocalist with Charlie Spivak and Tex Beneke. During a brief stint with the last Dorsey Brothers Orchestra, she met her future husband, musician-arranger Billy VerPlanck. Marlene performs across North America and much of Western Europe, while a growing roster of solo CDs continues to win critical acclaim. The albums feature exciting arrangements scored by her late husband, Billy VerPlanck, with accompaniment by many of America's finest musicians. Call for cover/minimum information.

BOSTON: BACA OPEN MIC AT FIRST PARISH CHURCH
FEATURED CABARET ORGANIZATION EVENT

The next BACA (Boston Association of Cabaret Artists - http://www.bostoncabaret.com/ ) OPEN MIC will be held on Wednesday, October 23rd at FIRST PARISH CHURCH (35 Church Street, Watertown Square, MA) from 7:15 to 10:30 pm (sign-up begins at 7:00 pm). Steve SanSoucie will speak briefly on building audience rapport. This month the show is hosted by Matt BenDaniel, Bill Duffy is accompanist. There will be a raffle with prizes from Kathleen Kolman, Molly Ruggles, Lisa Hall, and Anne Woonteiler. Singers should prepare up to two songs with music charts in the correct key. There is a $10 cover for BACA members, $13 for non-members.

TORONTO: NATASHA BUCKERIDGE AT JAZZ BISTRO

Jazz vocalist Natasha Buckeridge will perform at THE JAZZ BISTRO(251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299 - ) on Wednesday, October 23rd at 9:00 pm. She is joined by Jordan Klapman on piano, Chris Daniels on bass and Gary Scriven on drums. Originally From Wales, Natasha began her singing career in various live bands, tributes and an acoustic outfit performing up and down the U.K. Dabbling in Musical Theatre, Film and Television over the years, the live performance experience has continued to be her first love. Since coming to Toronto, after a brief hiatus, Natasha has embarked upon a career in voice-over and re-ignited her passion for singing, performing a wide repertoire of Jazz, Pop, Swing, Rock, and even Light Opera at various venues throughout the city. However, it is the Jazz genre that holds a special place in her heart. There is a $15 cover.
