NY STATE: PIANO BAR WITH BOBBY BELFRY AT THE BEAR MOUNTAIN INN
Each Thursday night beginning at 8:00 pm, THE BLUE ROOF TAPAS BAR at THE BEAR MOUNTAIN INN(55 Hessian Drive, Bear Mountain, NY - 845-786-2731) will host a rollicking night of great music from Sinatra to GaGa and just about every musical genre in between on Thursdays, with award winning recording artist and songwriter Bobby Belfry as singer & host and the brilliant all-around musician and singer David Budway at the piano, as well as the magnificent Sarah Mucho on vocals (this lady can croon and rock then tear it all up and start over again! If you don't know what that means-there's only one way to find out!) The mic is OPEN! So if you sing, bring sheet music and sing a tune. AND if you don't sing, sing along anyway! Chef Michael Matarazzo has prepared a phenomenal menu of delicious & sophisticated tapas and comfort-bar food that will satisfy and amaze! BOSTON: MEDICI MUSICA PRODUCTIONS PRESENTS: WOMEN OF THE WORLD
Musicians from 9 countries will unite at THE REGATTABAR at the Charles Hotel (1 Bennett Street, Cambridge, MA - 617-395-7757) on Thursday, October 24th at 7:30 pm to celebrate the official United Nations Day. This unique concert by renowned global music ensemble, Women of the World, will be a feast of sounds, languages, colors, and ideas, with members representing Japan, Italy, India, Haiti, Canada, Serbia, Brazil, Mexico, and the United States of America. Presenting a vast repertoire, currently spanning 21 languages, Women of the World was formed to bring musicians from all over the world onto a common platform. Led by four power-house vocalists and an eclectic six-piece band, the group has toured North America, Canada, and Asia, with notable performances at Carnegie Hall, Blue Note Jazz Club, Boston Symphony Hall, BeanTown Jazz Festival, and TEDxBoston events. There is a $20 cover.
TORONTO: JERRY BERGONZI WITH THE BRIAN DICKINSON TRIO
Tenor saxophonist Jerry Bergonzi will perform at THE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) on Thursday through Saturday, October 24th through 27th at 9:00 pm. He will be joined on stage by Brian Dickinson on piano, Jim Vivian on bass and Ted Warren on drums. Bergonzi is an internationally recognized jazz performer, composer, author and educator. His music is renowned for its innovation, mastery, and integrity. Relentless drive, inner fire, total command, awesome technique, elastic lyricism, rich resonance, world-class, a musical visionary, are among the rave reviews credited to his sound. Bergonzi's music has been applauded throughout the world at festivals, concert halls, and jazz venues and his dedication to jazz music has been well documented by an extensive discography of over 150 sides. There is a $15 cover.
