Midnight Caravan is a salute to the great women singing stars of the 1940s and '50s - from Ella Fitzgerald to Judy Garland to Rosemary Clooney - as they reigned over the swanky, sexy supper clubs of their day. From sultry ballads to hot Latin jazz arrangements of Broadway tunes, Linda Purl, in her UK debut, features classic standards like My Romance, Shall We Dance and Caravan, and conjures a night time world where the surroundings are posh, the drinks keep flowing, and nobody goes to bed before three. Born in Connecticut and brought up in Japan, Linda Purl has appeared repeatedly on many top TV shows: on Reckless and True Blood, The Office as Helene Beasley and the Golden Globe Award winning series Homeland, as Elizabeth Gaines. FLORIDA: STEVE TYRELL AT THE ROYAL ROOM IN JANUARY

Steve Tyrell returns in January for his sixth engagement in the THE ROYAL ROOM at THE COLONY HOTEL (155 Hammond Avenue, Palm Beach, FL - 561-659-8100) where he made his debut in January 2008. Performances are scheduled for Tuesdays through Saturdays, January 7th through 25th at 8:00 pm.The Grammy Award-winning vocalist is truly a renaissance man. In his four and a half decades in the music business, he has achieved great success as an artist, producer, songwriter, music supervisor, and performer. With his breakthrough performances in Father of the Bride and Father of the Bride II, Tyrell reinvented and re-popularized classic pop standards for a modern-day audience. His hits "The Way You Look Tonight," "The Simple Life," "Crush On You" and "The Sunny Side of The Street," have launched thousands of weddings and millions of romances. He's held top positions at Standards, Swing, and Big Band outlets with a devoted following at key Adult Contemporary Radio. He has appeared with The Boston Pops, twice with The New York Pops, The Nashville Symphony, and The Houston Symphony on several occasions. At the request of the Sinatra family and Quincy Jones, Tyrell was the featured performer with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra at their season opening concert in which Frank Sinatra was inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame. SAN FRANCISCO: AIRTO MOREIRA & EYEDENTITY

Brazilian percussionist/drummer Airto Moreira, along with long-time collaborator group Eyedentity, will appar at YOSHI'S (1330 Fillmore Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-655-5600) on Thursday, January 23rd at 8;00 pm. Together they perform a wide variety of styles such as Afro-Brazilian, Samba and Bossa Nova, straight ahead Jazz and funky Jazz Fusion. In 1965, Airto met the singer Flora Purim in Rio de Janeiro. Flora moved to the USA in 1967 and Airto followed her shortly after. When in New York Airto began playing with musicians such as Reggie Workman, JJ Johnson, Cedar Walton and bassist Walter Booker. It was through Booker that Airto began playing with the greats - Cannonball Adderley, Lee Morgan, Paul Desmond and Joe Zawinul, to name a few. Zawignul recommended Airto to Miles Davis for a recording session in 1970 for the "Bitches Brew" album. Davis then invited Airto to join his group, which included such jazz icons as Wayne Shorter, Dave Holland, Jack DeJohnette, Chick Corea and later John McLaughlin and Keith Jarrett. He remained with Miles for two years, and appears on such releases as "Live/Evil", "Live at the Fillmore", "On the Corner", "The Isle of Wight", "Bitches Brew" and later releases including the "Fillmore Sessions." SAN FRANCISCO: "AN EVENING WITH JOAN RYAN, LIVE!"

Actress and singer Joan Ryan, who boasts an impressive four octave range, makes her long-awaited return to the San Francisco cabaret stage with her self-titled show 'Joan Ryan, Live!', at FEINSTEIN'S AT THE NIKKO (222 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA - 866-663-1063) on Thursday, January 23rd at 8:00 pm. The show was written and directed by Andrew MacBean (Associate Director with Trevor Nunn on Andrew Lloyd Webber's Aspects of Love and Sunset Boulevard) and musical direction from Todd Schroeder (musical director for Sam Harris, Jason Alexander). Ms. Ryan, is currently receiving both critical and audience praise in hit indie film "Hot Guys With Guns." At just 22 years old, Steven is making a name for himself as an artist to look out for. Since moving to New York City in 2009, Steven has been afforded the opportunity of performing and collaborating with some of the most recognizable names in jazz at venues throughout the world. In the fall of 2011, Steven was selected as a semifinalist to the prestigious Thelonious Monk Competition. As Steven's passion for music has grown, so has his penchant for writing. TORONTO: YOUNG ARTIST SERIES: VICTOR XU

Victor Xu will perform at THE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) on Thursday, January 23rd from 6:00 to 8:00 pm as part of the clubs Young Artist Brunch Series. Born in 1992, Victor Xu began playing piano at a young age and had successfully achieved placements in competitions with the Royal Conservatory of Music throughout his classical studies. His interest in jazz soon emerged, and soonafter he began studying at York University. Utilizing a combination of contemporary melody and traditional left hand harmony within improvisation, Victor often strives for a balance of melodic proficiency and a consideration for leaving space. Currently Victor plays with various bands in Toronto, including Sly Why, The Harrison Vetro Quartet, and Pagoda. No Cover Charge.

D.C.: ROY AYERS AT BLUES ALLEY

Roy Ayers performs at BLUES ALLEY(1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141) on Thursday, January 23rd through Sunday, January 26th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Constantly performing and recording since the 1960s, he is the most well known jazz vibraphonists. He has produced some of the most loved modern soul-jazz records of all time. Classics beyond genre such as, "Everybody Loves The Sunshine", most influential afro-jazz with musician Fela Kuti, "Africa - Centre Of The World", and the most seminal jazz-funk, such as "Running Away". In his 40-plus years as a vibraphonist, he has produced a string of soul and funk classics that has arguably made him the second-most sampled musician in hip-hop, after James Brown. NYC: ROBERT SILVERMAN BLUES AND JAZZ QUARTET

Pianist, trumpeter, and composer Robert Silverman will perform at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Thursday, January 23rd at 6:00 pm. Silverman has been a fixture on the New York jazz scene since 1985. After playing with Albert King, Jimmy Heath, George Russell, Cecil McBee, and the Ron Levy Bluesman band, he went on to form his own ensemble featuring original compositions, the blues, and standards. the Quartet is made up of Robert Silverman (piano/trumpet/vocals); James "Doc" Halliday (tenor sax); Andy Bassford (bass); and Scott Hamilton (drums). Silverman has been featured in New York on NBC TV, WKCR, WBAI, and WNYC Radio's Around New York. He is on the Staff of the Hebrew Home for the Aged, playing and teaching jazz to seniors. NYC: NICHOLAS PAYTON AND ACTION AFFIRMATIVE

Nicholas Payton and Action Affirmative with Aaron Parks, Vicente Archer and Bill Stewart will perform at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Tuesday through Saturday, January 20th through 25th with shows at 8:30 & 11:00 pm. Since 1994 when Nicholas Payton made his recording debut as a leader with "From This Moment," the trumpeter has been lauded as one of the leading young instrumental voices in jazz. Even though he started out as a "young lion," one of the new generation guardians of the swing and bebop flames, the 40-year-old Payton has devoted himself to discovering sounds outside of strict traditional confines. Having grown up in a family and community of musicians in New Orleans, Payton has built his unique voice by melding a post-bop foundation, a heavy emphasis on groove, a soulful history and various experimental elements. Payton's new ensemble "Action Affirmative" is a return of sorts - to the fiery postbox of "Nick@Night" (Verve Records, 2000) for which he has received much acclaimed - but with a new lineup of stellar collaborators. Donna Vivino, the rising Broadway and vocal star, will celebrate the release of Beautiful Dreamer - her debut solo album from Ghostlight Records - with a special performance at 54 BELOW(254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Thursday, January 23rd at 9:30 pm. The album was released in stores and via online outlets December 10, 2013. The veteran of Broadway's "Wicked" and "Les Miserables," Vivino will reprise her solo concert "It's Not Easy Being Green" with special numbers from the new recording. She made her Guthrie Theater debut in "Coward's Women" in 2010 with singer Erin Schwab, performed at the New York Cabaret Convention in 2011 at Lincoln Center's Rose Hall, and in 2012 appeared in concert with the late composer and pianist Richard Rodney Bennett. FLORIDA: STEVE TYRELL AT THE ROYAL ROOM IN JANUARY

Steve Tyrell returns in January for his sixth engagement in the THE ROYAL ROOM at THE COLONY HOTEL (155 Hammond Avenue, Palm Beach, FL - 561-659-8100) where he made his debut in January 2008. Performances are scheduled for Tuesdays through Saturdays, January 7th through 25th at 8:00 pm.The Grammy Award-winning vocalist is truly a renaissance man. In his four and a half decades in the music business, he has achieved great success as an artist, producer, songwriter, music supervisor, and performer. With his breakthrough performances in Father of the Bride and Father of the Bride II, Tyrell reinvented and re-popularized classic pop standards for a modern-day audience. His hits "The Way You Look Tonight," "The Simple Life," "Crush On You" and "The Sunny Side of The Street," have launched thousands of weddings and millions of romances. He's held top positions at Standards, Swing, and Big Band outlets with a devoted following at key Adult Contemporary Radio. He has appeared with The Boston Pops, twice with The New York Pops, The Nashville Symphony, and The Houston Symphony on several occasions. Nicholas Payton and Action Affirmative with Aaron Parks, Vicente Archer and Bill Stewart will perform at BIRDLAND(315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Tuesday through Saturday, January 20th through 25th with shows at 8:30 & 11:00 pm. Since 1994 when Nicholas Payton made his recording debut as a leader with "From This Moment," the trumpeter has been lauded as one of the leading young instrumental voices in jazz. Even though he started out as a "young lion," one of the new generation guardians of the swing and bebop flames, the 40-year-old Payton has devoted himself to discovering sounds outside of strict traditional confines. Having grown up in a family and community of musicians in New Orleans, Payton has built his unique voice by melding a post-bop foundation, a heavy emphasis on groove, a soulful history and various experimental elements. Payton's new ensemble "Action Affirmative" is a return of sorts - to the fiery postbox of "Nick@Night" (Verve Records, 2000) for which he has received much acclaimed - but with a new lineup of stellar collaborators. In the show four women over 60 (Blanchette, the varicose-veined vixen; Dorthea, the brainy ball-buster; Roz, the lovable airhead; and Sophie, the wisecracking spitfire) are spending their golden years together in a wicker-filled bungalow in Miami. But when gay pop superstar Ricky Martin moves next door, his loud outdoor sex parties keep the quartet of cheesecake-loving retirees awake. The solution pits the gays against the girls at the annual Shady Oaks Retirement Home Talent Show: if the women win, then no more sex parties; if the gays garner top prize, the sassy seniors must serve as the party's clean-up crew. Peggy Eason will present her cabaret show "As I See It" at STAGE 72 (158 West 72nd Street, NYC - 212-362-2590) on Friday, January 17th and Wednesday, January 22nd, both shows at 7:00 pm. Eason, who has been blind since birth and has had to overcome many other challenges in her life recently retired after 25 years of employment at the New York State Division of Parole where she was union president. With master's degrees in Voice and Music Education from Manhattan School of Music, as well as in Social Work from Hunter College, Eason was bored with retirement, at first. She started her own company, Chocolate Diva Enterprises, to help others. She is also president of NYC's Toastmaster's Torch Club. Musical director is Grammy Award Winner and two-time Emmy Award Winner  John McDaniel. John Denman directs. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

"Perfect Pairs at The Palace" brings a new Broadway, Cabaret & Jazz Series to the PALACE THEATRE at the STAMFORD CENTER FOR THE ARTS (61 Atlantic St., Stamford, CT - 203-325-4466). Perfect Pairs features the very best dynamic duos in Broadway, Cabaret and Jazz performing in an intimate setting on the Harman Stage. This will be MAC and Backstage Bistro Award-winning vocalist, Kevin Dozier's 54 Below debut, on his 50th birthday!
