NYC: THE REAL LOVE CONCERT: GO LOVE YOURSELF!

Composer, playwright and producer Germono Toussaint presents "The Real Love Concert: Go Love Yourself!" at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Friday, August 21st at 7:00 pm, featuring Crystal Monee Hall and Huling Foster. Toussaint formed A Mile In My Shoes, Inc. (AMIMS) with a mission of utilizing the arts to increase the awareness of modern social issues and the impact they have on society. AMIMS' Go Love Yourself Campaign was conceived with the belief that focusing on self-love, self-respect and a positive self-image is central to the betterment of society. Part of this campaign, Go Love Yourself, celebrates the beauty of our humanity and individuality. Go Love Yourself Concert features live performances by some of New York's most dynamic artists, sharing their personal journey towards Real Love - a love that can only be found within. Crystal Monee Hall is a multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter whose music is a prophetic fusion of folk, gospel, regional blues and soul. Huling Foster is a graduate of Fordham University and holds an MFA from Columbia University in Acting. Recently he performed his own well-received one man show in collaboration with Germono Toussaint entitled "The Disposables" at the Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance. Currently he is developing a solo project centering on the life and music jazz icon Abbey Lincoln set to premier this fall. There is a $15 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: PAMELA LEWIS: "NEW YORK STATE OF MIND: THE SONGS OF BILLY JOEL"

After performing two sold-out shows in mid-January and another one in March that garnered rave reviews from New York cabaret critics, singer/songwriter Pamela Lewis (a.k.a. Champagne Pam), again brings her unique interpretation of Long Island icon Billy Joel's songbook back to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Friday, August 21st at 9:30 pm. Pamela considers the songs of Billy Joel to be the soundtrack of her life and has been dreaming about performing them since she was a little girl growing up on Long Island. Pamela's understanding of Joel's Long Island roots, and passion for American popular song make her an ideal performer of this material. Lewis' show is directed by well-known British cabaret star Barb Jungr. With Musical Director Bill Heller on piano, Lewis' husband John Hurley on guitar, bass player Ritt Henn, and Marcus Parsley on trumpet, you'll hear Pamela transform the classic songs of Billy Joel into a sound all her own. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
