INDIANAPOLIS, IN: NORM LEWIS AT THE CABARET AT THE COLUMBIA CLUB
Tony nominee, Norm Lewis, presents a show that crosses stylistic boundaries from Broadway to opera to gospel and everything in between at THE CABARET AT THE COLUMBIA CLUB (121 Monument Circle, Indianapolis, IN - 317-275-1169) on Friday, August 28th at 8:00 pm and Saturday, August 29th - performances at 7:00 & 9:30 pm. One of Broadways most versatile stars, Lewis has starred in The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess (opposite Audra McDonald), Les Miserables, The Little Mermaid, Side Show, Chicago, Sondheim on Sondheim (with Vanessa Williams and Barbara Cook), and made history as the first African American to play in the starring role of The Phantom of the Opera. Fans will also know Lewis for his roles on ABC's hit drama Scandal, NBC's The Blacklist, and CBS' Blue Bloods. There is a $35-$75 cover plus a $12 food/drink minimum.
CHICAGO: THE JESSICAS - JESSICA HORNSTEN & JESSICA TRENT AT DAVENPORTS
The Jessicas (Jessica Hornsten & Jessica Trent) return to DAVENPORT'S (1383 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, IL - 773-278-1830) on Saturday, August 28th, serving up another piquant plateful of "sassy, smart, and edgy" humor! At their most recent gig at City Winery, Jessica Hornsten's voice was described as "Whitney Houston, singing about kegels." Meanwhile, Jessica Trent's clever observations made audiences feel "all of the feelings," especially umami. Jessica and Jessica complement their own original songs and parodies with hilarious selections by other famous duos such as Pasek and Paul, Lopez and Anderson-Lopez, and Garfunkel and Oates. Ken McMullen lends his virtuosic piano skills and wry facial expressions to the mix. There is a $15 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
