NYC: MICHELLE DELLA FAVE & JOHNNY COLLIANNI AT THE MET
Michelle DellaFave & Johnny Collianni will perform at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Wednesday, January 21st at 7:00 pm. Michelle DellaFave became a familiar face to millions of TV viewers in the late 1960s and the early 70s when at the age of 19, she was selected to be one of Dean Martin's Goldiggers on his weekly series and on The Golddiggers own summer variety show. Standing out among the peers by virtue of her vocal talent and popularity with audiences. Blessed with serene, ethereal beauty and a magnificent, highly versatile voice capable of tackling a wide range of singing styles, Michelle DellaFave put all of her strengths to full use as one of the longest-running female regulars in the history of The Dean Martin Show. Her career took off just a few months out of high school, when she was chosen to be a Copa Girl at New York's famed Copacabana nightclub. Not long thereafter, she auditioned for what promised to be a plum spot on prime-time network TV, and at the age of 19, she was selected to be one of Dean Martin's singer-dancers, known as The Golddiggers, on his weekly series and on The Golddiggers' own summer variety show. Standing out among her peers by virtue of her vocal talent and popularity with audiences, Michelle became a familiar face to millions of television viewers in the late 1960s and early '70s. During her second year with The Golddiggers, she was plucked from the ranks of that 9-member group to join a more intimate quartet dubbed The Dingaling Sisters, who performed their own numbers and sang medleys with Dean each week on his program. For a time, she was also paired with Lonette McKee (who herself would go on to a successful solo career) in a duo called The Soul Sisters, singing and dancing each week on Jonathan Winters' syndicated TV series. During her time with The Golddiggers and Dingalings, Michelle traveled both the country and the world with the two troupes, playing nightclubs and other venues; accompanying Bob Hope on USO tours of Vietnam and other parts of Southeast Asia for the comedian's top-rated annual NBC Christmas specials; and appearing on a wide range of other television shows, including The Mike Douglas Show and The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. While eventually scaling back her involvement in the entertainment industry to raise a family, Michelle kept a hand in the business, singing and acting in many Equity theater presentations, and even playing one of the Radio City Rockettes in the film version of the musical Annie. Then, in 2007, Michelle staged a comeback, re-teaming with Lindsay Bloom, one of her colleagues from The Dean Martin Show. The two toured the country as the musical duo Blue Eyed Soul, entertaining veterans, active duty service men and women, and civilians, and visiting VA hospitals. Since 2010, Michelle has continued to entertain audiences with a dynamic solo act. There is a $22.50 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
