NYC: JIM CARUSO'S "CAST PARTY" MONDAYS AT BIRDLANDFEATURED OPEN MIC EVENT

Every Monday night at 9:30 pm, Broadway impresario Jim Caruso hosts "Cast Party", a combination open-mic, networking event and party at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) during which the biggest stars on Broadway relax on their night off by performing their favorite songs in an informal setting. Cast Party is a mix of music, impromptu performance and cocktail party revelry, where showbiz superstars, stunning jazz talents and cabaret glitterati hit the stage alongside up-and-comers to serve up jaw-dropping music and general razzle-dazzle. It's the ultimate spot to mix and mingle with talented show folk and their fans. There is a $20 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

NYC: JULIE & JULIE: THEN & NOW - STARRING JULIE HALSTON & JULIE GOLD AT BIRDLAND

Julie & Julie: Then & Now, starring Julie Halston & Julie Gold will be presented on Monday, December 1st at 7:00 pm at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080 - ) as part of the clubs famed Broadway at Birdland series. Reunited on stage for the first time in 15 years, Ms. Halston and Ms. Gold will combine comedy and songs about all the major topics: Mothers, Show biz, Love, Death and Facelifts. In other words ... life! Julie Halston is one of New York's busiest actresses. Well-known to theatre audiences, she is currently on Broadway in the critically acclaimed revival of You Can't Take It With You, for which she has received rave reviews. She was also singled out last season for her performance in Charles Busch's TheTribute Artist, and for her performance as Mother in the Kennedy Center production of The Guardsman. She has appeared in many Broadway and off-Broadway productions including Anything Goes, Hairspray, Gypsy, The Twentieth Century, (Outer Critics CircleNomination), The Divine Sister (Drama Desk Nomination), Love Loss and What I Wore, and numerous others . Miss Halston was a founding member of Mr. Busch's now legendary theatre company,Theatre- in-Limbo and has co-starred with him in over ten productions including Vampire Lesbians of Sodom, The Lady in Question, Red Scare on Sunset (Drama Desk Nomination, Shanghai Moon and Olive and The Bitter Herbs. In addition to theatre, Miss Halston is known to television audiences as Bitsy Von Muffling from the smash hit "Sex and The City," Tina Carmello from "The Class"and to younger audience members as Antigone Carruthers from "The Electric Company". Miss Halston has won awards for the solo comedy pieces which she has performed all over the US including Seattle, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and New York. Her SRO solo show has been extended five times at NY's famed Birdland Jazz Club. CBS developed a TV pilot based on her one-woman show, "Julie Halston's Lifetime of Comedy," which she wrote and starred in for over six months off-Broadway. She received an Outer Critics Circle Nomination for her writing. Along with co-author, Donna Daley, she wrote the critically acclaimed book, "Monologues for Show-Offs," published by Heinemann Press. It is currently being used by many casting directors, acting teachers and universities as an important resource for actors and is now being developed as a dramatic piece. Her most recent essay, "The Greatest Thing I Never Did" was chosen to appear in the book, "No Kidding," featuring some of America's funniest women writers. Miss Halston was the recipient of the 2013 Nightlife Award for Outstanding Comedy Performer.
Julie Gold is a New YorkCity-based singer/songwriter best known for her Grammy Award winning song, "From A Distance," as recorded by Bette Midler. Other artists who have recorded "From A Distance" include Nanci Griffith, Donna Summer, Patti LaBelle, Sir Cliff Richard, Raul Malo, Jewel, Elaine Paige, The Byrds, and Judy Collins. "From A Distance" has been recited into the Congressional record, illustrated in the form of a children's book, translated into many languages and has been featured in greeting cards, music boxes and stuffed animals. It was the wake-up call for the American and Russian astronauts the first time they hooked up at the MirSpace Station. Other Julie Gold songs have been recorded by Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu, Patti LuPone, Lea Salonga, Kathie Lee Gifford, and Andrea Marcovicci, among others. Julie's songs were featured in the motion pictures "Unfaithful" and "Andre." Her lyric for the ubiquitous News Channel 4 promo, "We're 4 New York" aired for years, garnering an Emmy nomination. Julie served on the Board of Governors for the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) for several years. She is an artist in the prestigious roster of Lincoln Center's "Meet The Artist" program. Most recently, Julie has written songs for Oxford University Press, as part of a curriculum that teaches English to non-English speaking elementary school children all over the world. As the daughter of an immigrant, that has proved to be her most rewarding venture. There is $30 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.
