NYC: KIM GROGGRETURNS WITH ONE HIT WONDER WOMAN AT MAMA'S
2001 MAC Award Nominee Kim Grog brings her new show "One Hit Wonder Woman" back to DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) on Friday, December 5th at 7:00 pm and Sunday, December 7th at 5:00 pm. Musical director is Steven Ray Watkins, with direction by Lennie Watts. She is joined on stage by Rain Collazo, Wendy Russell, and special guest Sidney Myer. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: AIMEE ALLEN TRIO AT CAFE DU SOLEIL
The Aimee Allen Trio returns to CAFE DU SOLEIL (2723 Broadway, NYC - 212-316-5000) on Friday, December 5th with sets from 8:00 to 11:00 pm. Aimee is joined by Alex Levine - guitar and Francois Moutin - bass. Aimee Allen was signed to Electra Records in 2002 after being discovered by producer Randy Jackson. Her debut album I'd Start a Revolution If I Could Get Up in the Morning, featuring tracks produced by Mark Ronson and Don Gilmore, was never released due to the label being absorbed by Atlantic Records. The label did, however, release her first single "Revolution", which was a featured rock video on MTV as well as the theme for the WB Television Network series Birds of Prey. Allen contributed to the writing of Unwritten Law's album Here's to the Mourning, released in February 2005. She co-wrote lyrics for the entire album with lead singer Scott Russo including the hit single "Save Me (Wake Up Call)", which was co-written and produced by Linda Perry. She returned the following year as a judge at the 8th Annual IMA's. Aimee is known for her vocals on the song "Cooties" made for the soundtrack of the 2007 version of the movie Hairspray. La Tanya Hall performs at New York's newest music venue, CAFE NOCTAMBULO AT PANGEA (178 Second Avenue, NYC - 212-995-0900) on Friday & Saturday, December 5th & 6th at 8:00 pm. Vocalist La Tanya Hall is poised to take her place as one of the foremost jazz vocalists in the world today. Her ability to reinvent the Great American Songbook is amassing glorious reviews from around the globe. Hall's debut recording 'It's About Time' (Bridge Records 2008), , has been heralded as "an impressive debut from one of jazz's brightest stars," [Popjournalism.com/February 2009]. Her versatility in a variety of musical genres has allowed her to collaborate with some of music's most celebrated artists, including Diana Ross, Bobby McFerrin, Harry Belafonte, Michael McDonald, Burt Bacharach, Quincy Jones, Aretha Franklin, Rob Thomas, and Patti Labelle. And she has appeared as a soloist in her own right with the American Composer's Orchestra, the Colorado Symphony and the St. Louis Symphony. She has and continues to appear with an equally diverse range of musical icons: the boundary-less vocal avatar Bobby McFerrin; the master of the Great American Songbook, Michael Feinstein; the crooner and producer Steve Tyrell; pop star Rob Thomas; and toured this past summer with the legendary Steely Dan. It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play will be presented at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) on Thursday, December 4th at 6:30 pm and Friday, December 5th at 9:30 pm. This timeless holiday classic comes to the stage as a live 1940s radio broadcast, complete with on-stage sound effects by a real Foley artist. All the familiar faces - from cold-hearted banker Mr. Potter to small-town siren Violet to quirky guardian angel Clarence - are on hand to tell the story of George Bailey, a typical American who considers ending his life one Christmas eve. This fun, inventive take on a classic story of love and redemption aims to transport audiences back in time, and remind all of us that "no man is a failure who has friends." Experience their vision of the majestic 1893 Chicago World's Fair and how H.H. Holmes, America's first serial killer, exploits it for his own demented purposes. In this unique look into the making of the show, watch how first drafts evolved into the rich material that shone at the 2014 National Music Theatre Conference at The O'Neill Theatre Center, and take a sneak peek into what lies ahead for this powerhouse writing team.
