CHICAGO: "CHRISTMAS AT THE WHITE HOUSE" WITH RIDDLE & DOYLE

Dynamic singing and acting duo, Jenny Riddle and Elizabeth Doyle, bring to life the public and private lives of the First Families in their show "Christmas at the White House" at DAVENPORT'S (1383 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, IL - 773-278-1830 - ) on Sunday, December 7th at 7:00 pm. Doyle and Riddle bring to life that magical time of year when the world's most famous address, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, is aglow with decorations, celebrations and music. The hour-long show depicts how the First Families have brought their own unique styles to the White House at Christmastime and examines the celebrations and stories influenced by what was happening in the country and in the world. Audiences will discover Lincoln and Kennedy's favorite Christmas songs, hear about George Washington's yule log, see an enactment of President Andrew Jackson's indoor White House snowball fight, learn of FDR's Christmas tree farm and of the Obamas' cardboard Christmas tree. Jenny Riddle is a popular dramatic book reviewer throughout the Chicago area; she's a singing actress, writer and co-owner of Prairie Path Book Store in Wheaton. Elizabeth Doyle has been a popular singer-pianist at the Pump Room, at Park West and on Marian McPartland's "Piano Jazz" on NPR, as well as a composer of both popular and classical music. Riddle and Doyle have fashioned a show that will get you in the holiday mood with songs both old and new and a touch of American history to boot. There is a $15 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
