NYC: SCOTT EVAN DAVIS'S SHOW: PICTURE PERFECT AT THE DUPLEX
Composer/Lyricist Scott Evan Davis will present the first-ever staged revue of his music in March at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE(61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438 - ). Performances are scheduled for Saturday, March 9th and Sundays, March 17th & 24th, all shows at 7:00 pm. Titled Picture Perfect, the show's riff on relationships of every kind is summed up in the opening line of the title song: "If you think the perfect picture hangs on someone else's wall, look a little closer, until you can see it all ..." Picture Perfect draws on new, original material as well as Davis's debut recording, Cautiously Optimistic: The Music of Scott Evan Davis, released in 2011 by Sonic Landscapes Music. He has assembled an exciting group of performers to interpret his compositions, staged in group and solo arrangements. They are Joshua Dixon, Jaime Hartmann, Vicky Modica, Erik Sisco and Kim Grogg. Picture Perfect is Directed by Lennie Watts with Musical Direction and arrangements by David Snyder. Scott Evan Davis is a self-taught pianist who attended Emerson College and AMDA. In 2011, though he was a virtual unknown at the time, his debut recording featured such theater and cabaret luminaries as Faith Prince, Liz Callaway, Jason Graae and Natalie Douglas. In a period of two years on the New York scene, Davis's music has become lauded and sought after internationally. Last spring he was the recipient of a Courage in Theater Award from Musical Theater International for the musical A Powerful Day, which he wrote with autistic students at the Spectrum School in Manhattan under the auspices of Arts Connection. He recently performed a concert in the UK with esteemed composers Georgia Stitt and Michael Patrick Walker. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
