CABARET TONIGHT IN NYC: PAPO VAZQUEZ'S MIGHTY PIRATES TROUBADOURS AT THE IRIDIUM
Keystone Korner Nights / Todd Barkan presents Papo Vazquez Mighty Pirates Troubadours at IRIDIUM JAZZ CLUB (1650 Broadway, NYC - 212-582-2121 - ) on Wednesday, September 4th with shows at 8:00 & 10:30 pm. One of the most exciting Latin jazz bands in the world, Papo Vazquez's MIGHTY PIRATES TROUBADOURS (Papo Vazquez - Trombone, Leader; Willie Williams - Tenor Saxophone; Rick Germanson - Piano; Alexander "Apolo" Ayala - Bass; Alvester Garnett - Drums; Anthony Carrillo - Percussion; Carlos Maldonado - Percussion) combine many elements of the Afro Puerto Rican Jazz diaspora and Caribbean folkloric elements into a rhythmic and melodic journey to the un-foreheard. Trombonist, composer and arranger Papo Vazquez is more than thirty-five years into a career spanning the jazz, Latin, Afro-Caribbean and classical music and recording worlds. This year he's focusing all energies on his new recording Oasis with his Mighty Pirates Troubadours the core band which is a seven piece Afro Puerto Rican Jazz group and invited guests.The recording will be on sale after July 2012 on his Picaro record label. There is a $25 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.
