NYC- THURSDAY PICK: NANCY STEARNS PRESENTS "YIP HARBURG: WITH HUMOR AND HOPE"
Vocalist Nancy Stearns brings her show "Yip Harburg: With Humor and Hope" to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 - ) on Thursday, May 2nd at 7:00 pm. Nancy will be joined on stage by her music director, Gregory Toroian, on piano and David Finck, on bass. The show is directed by Helen Baldassare. The lyricist for The Wizard of Oz, Finian's Rainbow and so many movies and Broadway musicals, E.Y. "Yip" Harburg has been called Broadway's social conscience. This show highlights many of his songs of social comment - songs with tremendous humor and hope, and a sizeable dose of irreverence. A lawyer by day, Nancy first "found" cabaret as a student at Helen Baldassare's Cabaret Performance Workshop, for which Nancy now serves as Administrator. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
