NYC: SONGS OF MIRA J. SPEKTOR: TAKE ME HOME TONIGHT
Composer/lyricist Mira J. Spektor will present her show 'Take Me Home Tonight at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Monday, April 27th at 9:30 pm. Performers include Mark Campbell, Shana Farr, and Julie Reyburn. Director is Karen Carpenter of "Love, Loss, and What I Wore" and the musical director is Bill Zeffiro. Ms Spektor is Founder/Artistic Director of The Aviva Players. Born in Europe, she graduated from Sarah Lawrence College & studied at Mannes College & Juilliard. She has written chamber music, chamber operas & musicals including The Housewives' Cantata (lyrics by June Siegel), Lady of the Castle (based on Lea Goldberg's Israeli play), The Passion of Lizzie Borden (poems by Ruth Whitman) , Villa Diodati about Mary Shelley (lyrics by Colette Inez) & Giovanni the Fearless (A Commedia del Arte with book & lyrics by Carolyn Balducci); recital & cabaret songs & music for theatre, film & TV. She has recorded for Concert Hall, Westminster & Guilde International du Disque, Original Cast Records, Capstone & AirPlay. Her music scores (Georgina Press - BMI) include the feature film Double Edge (Faye Dunaway) & PBS documentaries, "Art in Its Soul & Serious Comics." Her recent CDs include: The Housewives' Cantata, Lady of the Castle, Mira Chante/French Love Songs & Lullabies & Lovesongs. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
