NYC: SONNY DAYE AND PERLEY TRIO AT THE METROPOLITAN ROOM THIS AFTERNOON
The Sonny Daye and Perley Trio (Sonny Daye - pianist, Perley Rousseau - vocalist, Lou Pappas - bassist) will perform on Saturday, May 5th at 4:00 pm at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440). This concert is the culmination of Sonny and Perley's invitation to perform a prelude concert for legendary American composer/lyricist Stephen Sondheim, their love of language, and songs that convey the wonderful sense of Spring. Perley was raised on the jazz greats from day one (Ella was the first recorded voice she remembers hearing), and as a young girl she was captivated by the Bossa Nova sounds of Sergio Mendez and Brazil 66. Sonny's musical training began with the drums which he began playing at 7 years old. His inspiration came from his father, his aunt Marion and his godfather who made sure he had a heavy dose of listening to the jazz greats. Sonny & Perley keep a busy performance schedule, touring with their duo, trio, quartet or quintet performing for concerts, festivals, cabaret shows and private events and have released 4 CD.
