NYC: TAPESTRY REWOVEN WITH LAURIE KRAUZ & THE DARYL KOJAK OCTET
Carole King's top-selling recording "Tapestry" will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2013. Laurie Krauz and The Daryl Kojak Octet have decided to beging their campaign to record their show Tapestry Rewoven at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Tuesday, February 26th at 7:00 pm. The Octet features Michael Bates, bass; Gene Lewin, drums; Bob Kindred, tenor sax; Jamie Fox guitar and backup vocals by Emily Bindiger, Margaret Dorn and Kathryn Raio. "Tapestry Rewoven", their blues, and R&B-influenced homage to the classic album has played live to standing ovations around the country since its 2008 debut building momentum and a fantastic following along the way. They have tried to develop a project that is jazz at it's best: smart, inventive and very very accessible. The goal has always been to memorialize this tribute and use it for the greater good: to use the "user friendly" aspects of this recording to be part of the movement of educators and artists who promote jazz to the next generation of listeners - so this great American treasure stays alive. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
