NYC: ERIC COMSTOCK "I HEAR MUSIC: A BURTON LANE CENTENNIAL SONGBOOK"
Acclaimed jazz singer/pianist Eric Comstock celebrates the centennial of one of the great craftsmen of American song, burton lane, atTHE TRIAD (158 West 72nd Street, NYC - 212-362-2590) on Tuesday, April 24th at 7:00 pm. Burton Lane (1912-97) composed the scores for FINIAN'S RAINBOW and ON A CLEAR DAY, and his staggering list of pop standards includes: "How About You", "Old Devil Moon", "What Did I Have That I Don't Have", "The Lady's In Love With You", and "Everything I Have Is Yours", co-written with lyricists Ira Gershwin, Alan Jay Lerner, Frank Loesser, Yip Harburg and others. Comstock first performed a version of this program at Lincoln Center's American Songbook, and wanted to reprise it in Lane's centennial year. Comstock headlines at concert halls and cabarets coast to coast, often with vocalist Barbara Fasano. Their 2011 show, "HELLUVA TOWN" at the Algonquin Hotel's Oak Room Supper Club has toured the country from Palm Beach to San Francisco. Comstock and Fasano's last appearance at the Triad Theatre was an SRO concert in February with Broadway and nightclub legend Julie Wilson. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
