NYC: DOWN FOR DOUBLE WITH JOHN DIPINTO & MARY FOSTER CONKLIN
John DiPinto and Mary Foster Conklin return to the THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 - ) with DOWN FOR DOUBLE, two evenings of duets, on Thursdays, August 9th & 16th at 7:00 pm John & Mary have appeared onstage together in various guises for the last twenty years. They began to experiment with duets several years ago at the Caffe Vivaldi and The Metropolitan Room and perform regularly on various fire escapes as The Lady in the Red Dress and The Man in the Hat with the Renegade Cabaret. Tony Romano is on guitar, Skip Ward returns on bass and Willie Martinez joins the band playing percussion. As always, John will play accordion and piano when the mood strikes him. The pair will be doing some new tunes, plus their favorite cool arrangements of the Beatles, Bacharach & David, the Foo Fighters, Fran Landesman, Bob Dorough, the Bobs, Smokey Robinson, Jon Hendricks/Count Basie and more. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
