NYC: KIM SMITH AT CAFE SABARSKY
CAFE SABARSKY AT NEUE GALERIE (1048 Fifth Avenue, NYC - 212-288-0665) continues its unique series devoted primarily to German and Austrian music of the 1890s to 1930s, some of the most vibrant and innovative music created in the modern era. On Thursday, April 21st, featured performer is Kim Smith with Steven Ray Watkins, piano. Kim Smith is the toast of the cabaret scene, both in New York and in his native Australia. He will present an evening resplendent with the glittering decadence of 1920s Berlin. Singing in German, French, and English, Smith will guide his audience on a journey through the musical mayhem of the Weimar Era in all its seedy brilliance. Operated by Kurt Gutenbrunner, chef and owner of the renowned restaurant Wallse, Cabaret at Cafe Sabarsky offers a gourmet three-course prix-fixe dinner preceding every performance. All performances are at 9:00 pm, preceded by a prix-fixe dinner at 7:00 pm. Combined cost is $110 (dinner $65, performance $45; purchased together).
