S.F.: AT THE MOVIES - A BENEFIT CONCERT
FEATURED CABARET BENEFIT EVENT
There will be a benefit concert at MUSEUM OF PERFORMANCE & DESIGN (Veterans' Building, 401 Van Ness, Suite 402, San Francisco, CA - http://www.mpdsf.org/ ) on Monday, October 24th at 7:00 pm. This concert of movie songs marks the official opening of THESE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS: Movie Music Selections from the Bob Johnson Sheet Music Collection. The exhibition represents only 60 of over 60,000 pieces of sheet music donated by Mr. Bob Johnson to the Museum of Performance & Design, and is dedicated to the memory of Hollywood icon, Betty Grable. The proceeds of this concert will benefit the Museum's drive to save its irreplaceable collection of San Francisco cultural history in the wake of a critical funding shortage. The cast of performers is led by Wesla Whitfield & Mike Greensill, the legendary Frank Jackson, a recipient of the Fillmore Jazz Pioneer Award and other local, national and international cabaret stars including Leanne Borghesi, Bill Cooper, Lua Hadar (emcee), Frank Jackson, Veronica Klaus, Linda Kosut with David Austin at the piano, Barry Lloyd, Russ Lorenson, John McCullough and Carly Ozard. Music direction by Jason Martineau. Advance Tickets: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/ Tickets $28 in advance; Limited tickets at the door at $30.
