NYC: AMANDA McBROOM SINGS OF STRANGE DAYS
Amanda McBroom, with Michele Brourman, presents an evening of new songs, old standards, songs of politics and passion, from the press room to the bedroom, centered around the times we are living in at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 - ) on Wednesday & Thursday, October 26th & 27th and Sunday, October 30th at 9:30 pm. Amanda McBroom's name came to the attention of the public when Bette Midler's version of Amanda's song "THE ROSE" hit number one on the charts. Her songs have been recorded by Barbara Cook, Manhattan Transfer, Judy Collins, Barry Manilow, and many others. She received a Golden Globe, a Grammy nomination, and Johnny Mercer Songwriter of the Year Award. She has written lyrics for 14 Universal Animation features and was a featured lyricist for the TV classic series COP ROCK. She has written two musicals, HEARTBEATS, and A WOMAN OF WILL, and is lyricist for DANGEROUS BEAUTY, which had its world premiere at the Pasadena Playhouse in February of 2011. She has performed in concert from London to Sydney, and Carnegie Hall to the Kennedy Center. Her latest CD, "CHANSON ... Amanda McBroom Sings Jacques Brel" was released in June of '09. There is a $35 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
