A MARCH IS CABARET MONTH EVENT
A special edition of (le) Poisson Rouge's weekly Old Fashioned Piano Party will be an homage to the old Village Gate on on Sunday, March 27th at 9:00 pm at LE POISSON ROUGE (158 Bleecker Street, NYC - 212-505-3474 - ). Hosted by theater nerd Kevin Michael Murphy, with Caleb Hoyer on the keys. Special Guests are the Reformed Whores (Marie Cecile Anderson & Katy Frame) plus Lauren Marcus (Rewrite, Craig Steven's Guide), Akilah Williams (Yeast Nation), and singer-songwriter Angie Atkinson. Attendees are invited to dress as if it's 1965 and get ready to enjoy the pre-1965 tunes of the Golden Age of Broadway while sipping an Old Fashioned. This one-night only event is cover-free and will feature drink specials. This up-and-coming open mic night is highly recommended for show-tune lovers, Broadway enthusiasts, "Gleeks", fans of Charles Nelson Reilly, and anyone who ever wanted to do their own dream ballet; showcasing new composers and some of Broadway and Off-Broadway's best each week at the site of the old Village Gate - a nightclub/theater that opened in the late 50's and premiered a number of Off-Broadway shows.
