L.A.: MAUREEN ARTHUR AT THE GARDENIA
Actress/singer Maureen Arthur makes a 1-night only appearance at THE GARDENIA (7066 Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA - 323-467-7444 ) on Friday, February 4th at 9:00 pm. As "Hedy LaRue" in the 1967 film, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, arguably her most prominent movie role, Maureen Arthur uttered the line "A secretary was ordered to be assigned to you. I'm your assignation." That same year, she also appeared in Thunder Alley (with Annette Funicello) and A Man Called Dagger (for which she also sang the theme song, written by Steve Allen.) Again in 1967 (and into 1968) she appeared on Broadway as "Ida Schwartz" in Carl Reiner's comedy, Something Different. She has continued her successful career as an actress by appearing in numerous films over the years, including How to Commit Marriage, The Love Machine, Empire, and a host of others, along with TV roles too numerous to mention---and also recorded the pop tunes, "Don't Make the Angels Cry" and "What Does He Do With Her?" on the Carlton label. This performance marks her GARDENIA debut. Call for cover/minimum information.
