NYC: STAGED READING OF NEW MUSICAL: AESOP AND COMPANY
John McMahon (Music and Book) and Jay Jeffries’s (Lyrics and Book) full-length new musical comedy AESOP AND COMPANY will have four staged workshop presentations at THE NEW 42ND STREET STUDIOS (229 West 42nd Street - Room 6A, NYC - RESV: 212-563-2565) on Thursday, December 16 at 3:00 pm; Friday, December 17th at 11:00 am & 3:00 pm; and Saturday, December 18th at 10:30 am. This reading is open to the public but reservations are a must. The wily and "unsellable" Aesop is purchased to marry the feisty maid Lycaena. But a fable here, a fable there, and they both find themselves in the palace of the rich and powerful King Croesus! However, the King of Egypt wants his gold and it's up to Aesop to save the day and foil the schemes of the King’s conniving courtesan, Delphinia and her beefcake balladeer, Philocalus. AESOP AND COMPANY is supported, in part, by the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the City Council, with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, and by the ASCAP Foundation Irving Caesar Fund, the BMI Foundation, the Barbara Bell Cummings Foundation, the Dramatists Guild, the Edith Meiser Fund, and through the generous support of many individuals. The Workshop is produced by The AMAS Musical Theater, Randall L. Wreghitt and Rhoda Herrick, directed by Jay Binder, choreographed by Warren Carlyle and musical direction by Eric Stern.
