NYC: THE 'BRITISH EDITH PIAF' USA EAST-WEST CD RELEASE TOUR STARTS SUNDAY AT JOE'S PUB
Starting Sunday, November 28th, legendary cult British performer and song stylist Barb Jungr plays in 4 major US cities, some for the first time with her critically acclaimed show The Men I Love (also a new studio album on Naim Records). She opens at the celebrated JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555) in New York City on the 25th at 9:30 pm, then plays for the first time for 2 nights in Cleveland's Nighttown, 4 nights at Kranzberg Arts Center presented by Cabaret St. Louis, and 2 nights in San Francisco's Rrazz Room at Hotel Nikko. The Men I Love displays Barb's impressive ability to re-imagine well-known popular songs, revealing deep meanings and latent emotional content that comes to light when she dislodges the songs from their original contexts. Since its release in March 2010 the CD has received rave reviews and accolades internationally. The Men I Love comprises songs by Dylan, Cohen, Springsteen, Paul Simon, David Byrne and more in superb new arrangements by Barb and pianist & composer Simon Wallace, with whom Barb previously worked on her best-selling album of Bob Dylan songs and her chansons material for Linn Records. Tickets are $25.
