M.W.AREA: CHRISTY SIMMONS RETURNS TO THE KRANZBERG
Full-time caregiver and part-time performer Christy Simmons was once a prominent name and face in the world of St. Louis entertainment returns to the KRANZBERG ART CENTER (501 North Grand Street, St. Louis, MO - 314-795-8778) with her solo cabaret show, "Cause I'm A Woman" on Saturday, June 26th at 8:00 pm. The show features songs from the Great American Songbook, with nods to Musical Comedy, Jazz Standards, and even a few hits from the Big Band era. The daughter of a concert pianist and a Jazz man, Simmons seems destined to have become a singer, but her first love was acting. Both influences converge in a singing style that achieves a high level of musicality, while approaching the lyric of a song as if it were an acting monologue. The result is an evening of musical stories, told straight from the heart. Offering solid musical support are Joe Dreyer (piano), Dave Troncoso (bass), and Clancy Newell (drums). Tickets are $20.
