FLA: EIGHTH ANNUAL CABARET FESTIVAL AT MAD COW THEATRE

THE MAD COW THEATRE (105 South Magnolia Avenue, Orlando, FL - 407-297-8788), an intimate 2-theatre complex in downtown Orlando, plays host to The Eighth Annual Orlando Cabaret Festival, April 30th through May 16th. Over 40 performances of jazz, pop, Broadway, comedy, and a few surprises will feature many of Central Florida's favorite artists along with artists from the New York Cabaret scene. Final headliner is Karen Akers, appearing Thursday through Sunday, May 13th through 16th with her show "Akers Sings Porter - Anything Goes!" One of the most arresting and successful concert and cabaret stars, Karen Akers has appeared in prestigious venues worldwide, including Carnegie Hall, The Hollywood Bowl and New York's premiere nightspots such as Cafe Carlyle, Rainbow & Stars, Le Jazz Au Bar, and The Oak Room at The Algonquin Hotel. She appeared on Broadway as one of the original stars of the Tony Award-winning musical Grand Hotel as well as Nine for which she won a Theatre World Award as well as a Tony Award nomination. Her film roles include the femme fatale in Mike Nichol's Heartburn opposite Jack Nicholson and Meryl Streep and Woody Allen's The Purple Rose of Cairo.
