NYC: JANIS SIEGEL: THE REQUINTE TRIO WITH NANNY ASSIS & JOHN DI MARTINO

Janis Siegel and The Requinte Trio with Nanny Assis & John Di Martino will perform at THE BLUE NOTE (131 West 3rd Street, NYC - 212-475-8592) on Sunday, January 18th at 11:30 am as part of the club's Sunday Jazz Brunch series. Janis and the Requinte Trio Project, will be sharing the fusion of American Jazz and Brazilian music, forming a "creative combustion" of music, fusing the talents and musical colors of American and Brazilian artists through our common love of lyrical melodies and delicious grooves; creating sensual music with a broad range of influences - a musical "cocktail" of sorts. They will delve more deeply into the beautiful rhythms of Brazil and would love to share their process with you. Through this project, they will be challenging and pushing themselves out of their comfort zones. As the project develops, we will be documenting the creative process, sharing our rehearsals and insights. There is a $35 cover. **Price includes brunch, music and a drink.**

NYC: SUNDAY JAZZ BRUNCH WITH GABRIELLE STRAVELLI

Bistro Award winning vocalist, Gabrielle Stravelli, returns with her Sunday Jazz Brunch on January 18th at LE PESCADEUX (90 Thompson Street, NYC - 212-966-0021), a French restaurant in the heart of Soho. They will play three sets from 12:30 to 4:00 pm. She will be joined by Saul Rubin on guitar and Pat O'Leary on bass in this charming boite that offers a great, well-priced menu and cozy atmosphere. Award-winning vocalist Gabrielle Stravelli has garnered critical acclaim and a loyal following through her unique take on material from the new American songbook as well as classic standards by artists as varied as Pink Floyd and Duke Ellington, Dolly Parton and Johnny Mercer. A trained actor, Gabrielle has a soulful sensitivity for the story in the lyric. Gabrielle has performed on stages from Amsterdam to New York including Carnegie Hall, Iridium Jazz Club, Birdland, and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. Reservations are strongly suggested. No cover, no minimum. 

TORONTO: SUNDAY BRUNCH WITH YOUNGCHAN NA & HAYDEN FARRAR

Youngchan Na & Hayden Farrar perform at THE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) on Sunday, January 18th at 12:00 noon as part of the club's Sunday Jazz Brunch series. Youngchan Na was born in a small town near Seoul in South Korea and started playing guitar when he was 15. He played at numerous bars and jazz clubs in Korea. At the age of 18, he attended music program in Kyoung-hee University in Seoul, Korea. Afterwards, Young moved to Canada in 2011, and started attending the Humber College jazz program since 2012. Young studied with many famous musicians including Ted Quinlan, Kirk MacDonald, David Occhipinti, Joey Goldstein, and Nancy Walker. He also played with Bernie Senensky, Morgan Childs, Sly Juhas, and John Maharaj. Hayden Farrar is an upright and electric bassist, composer and educator living in Toronto, Canada. He spends most of his time playing and writing jazz music but is more than capable of covering a wide range of genres including jazz, blues, rock and alternative folk/pop. He has studied jazz bass with such in-demand musicians as Neil Swainson, Tim Lefebvre, Matt Penman, Rich Brown, Kieran Overs and Mike Downes as well as composition with David Occhipinti. Hayden has completed his Bachelor of Music from Humber College with honours in 2014 as well as the Humber College Intro to Jazz Certificate Program with Honours in 2010. In March of 2013 Hayden also had the opportunity to share the stage with Jack DeJohnette during Jack's residence at Humber College. During the sumer of 2014 Hayden was accepted on faculty at Global Music Institute teaching Berklee Core Courses for a semester. There is a $5 cover.
