NYC: SUNDAY OPEN MIC AT THE MET

Sunday Open Mic comes to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on the 2nd & 4th Sundays each month from 12:00 noon to 2:30 pm (signup ay 11:30 am). Presented and hosted by Susan Winter and Deb Berman, the "OPEN MIC AT THE MET" is not your average Open Mic since it will be presented on the iconic stage, with amazing acoustics, high-end equipment, and experienced sound engineer to help create a concert-like experience in Metropolitan Room's friendly, warm environment. Each Open Mic offers different pianists to accompany your performance. There is a $15 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

NextStop Theatre Company has announced the next bold, new offering in their ambitious inaugural season atNEXTSTOP THEATRE (269 Sunset Park Drive, Herndon, VA - 866-811-4111). Under the leadership of Series Producer, area based performing artist Jim Van Slyke, the company will present eighteen intimate concerts, featuring a eclectic mixture of Broadway stars, nationally acclaimed cabaret artists and some of the finest local singers in the DC Metropolitan area. Running from Friday, July 11th to Saturday, August 16th in the company's 114-seat black box theatre, audiences will be invited to grab a drink or snack from the bar and be transported for evenings featuring classics from musical theatre, jazz, rock, soul and even current hits. On Sunday, August 10th at 6:30 pm The Elden Street Musical Experience will be presented at NextStop. Take a journey to the past as they celebrate some of the best music from over 25 years of pulse-pounding Elden Street Players' musicals. Featuring ESP veterans John Loughney (Into the Woods, tick tick BOOM!), Jaclyn Young (Into the Woods, Metamorphoses, Midsummer), Matthew Thompson (Tomfoolery), and Priscilla Cuellar (Into the Woods).

PALM SPRINGS, CA: LOCAL SINGER MAKES CABARET DEBUT AT ARTHUR NEWMAN THEATER

Jaci Davis will debut her new show "Liza and Ella and Babs, Oh My!" at the THE ARTHUR NEWMAN THEATRE at the JOSLYN CENTER (73-750 Catalina Way, Palm Desert, CA - TKTS: 760-325-2731) on Sunday, August 10th at 2:00 pm. She will be joined by The Derrik Lewis Trio. This show is part of Les Michaels' Life Is A Cabaret Sundays In Summer Series. Ms. Davis will showcase iconic songs associated with music legends; Liza Minnelli, Ella Fitzgerald and Barbra Streisand. Jaci Davis is well known locally as a popular vocalist, as well as music director and piano teacher at Desert Music Academy in Palm Springs and as the music director for the United Methodist Church of Yucaipa. Jaci holds both her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Music and from 2001 to 2011, she taught music to grades 5•12 in the Midwest before moving to the desert in 2012 to be near her parents Jack and Nina Davis. There is an $11 cash cover.
