TORONTO: JAZZ BISTRO YOUNG ARTIST SERIES: ALEX ERNEWEIN

Alex Ernewein will perform at THE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) on Tuesday, June 17th at 6:00 pm as part of the club's Young Artist Series. Alex was born in 1993 and grew up on a farm near Innerkip, Ontario. Having a keen interest in music his whole life, he taught himself the piano at age 8. He especially immersed himself in jazz music, performing at various venues across Ontario, and by the time he was 14 he released his self-titled debut jazz album. After this, his musical pursuits broadened to the likes of folk and post-rock music. Using several different instruments instead of just the piano, Ernewein began performing a new style of music that was very well recieved. This music was a radical change in direction from his earlier works, the most notable difference being his singing. After playing this new material at several concerts, he finished working on an album of completely original material. This album features him playing nearly every instrument as well as singing; it was released in May 2011. Since then he has moved to Toronto and is currently playing all around the city, both in the studio and on the stage. Backing up a wide array of artist that all differ stylistically, Ernewein is quickly emerging in the scene as one of the cities most versatile and proficient keyboard players. No cover charge.
