WASHINGTON, DC: THE BOHEMIAN CAVERNS JAZZ ORCHESTRA MONDAYS

The Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra performs every Monday night at BOHEMIAN CAVERNS (2001 Eleventh Street N.W., Washington, DC - 202-299-0800) with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Still the Hottest Big Band in the City, The Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra is a 17 piece powerhouse force cofounded by baritone saxophonist Brad Linde, trumpeter Joe Herrera and club owner Omrao Brown. The BCJO presents a variety of music from big band literature and features some of the District's best musicians. Music from Ellington, Basie, Strayhorn, Thad Jones, Oliver Nelson, Maria Schneider and originals by band members will embrace and challenge the tradition of big band repertoire. WASHINGTON, DC: PHIL FRENCH AT BLUES ALLEY

Saxophonist Phil French will perform atBLUES ALLEY (1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141 - ) on Monday, June 16th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Phil's lifelong passion for music started at the age of 10, which is when he began formal saxophone training in the Maryland public school system. He honed skills while playing at Shiloh Church of God 7th Day in Hyattsville, Maryland. As a youth, Phil continued to play his saxophone in both Christian and secular arenas. Phil has had the experience of performing with many talented individuals including: the late Grover Washington Jr., the late Stanley Turrentine, Pieces of a Dream, Marion Meadows, Norman Connors, Brian McKnight, the late Ollie Woodson formerly of the Temptations, the Clark Sisters, The Winans, Fred Hammond, and Richard Smallwood. He's also recorded on albums with Ben Tankard, Alvin Nesbitt, and Amos Davis. For four years Phil was a band member and music director for the Grammy Award winner Yolanda Adams.
