LOS ANGELES: MARK CHRISTIAN MILLER AT THE GARDENIA

Jazz vocalist Mark Christian Miller will perform at THEGARDENIA (7066 Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA - 323-467-7444) on Saturday, March 24th at 9:00 pm. Miller has recently been working in artist management and booking with some of the top names in jazz and Latin jazz. He first came to the attention of jazz critics as a vocalist himself when he was a music major at Los Angeles City College. Mr. Miller has recorded with Page Cavanaugh and Betty Bryant, and has shared the stage with artists from Anita O'Day to Hubert Laws. He returns to the Gardenia with an all-star trio, performing new arrangements of songs representing an eclectic mix of composers. Call for cover/minimum information.

SAN FRANCISCO: RAY PARKER JR. AT YOSHI'S

Singer, Songwriter, Guitarist, and Producer Ray Parker Jr. will perform atYOSHI'S (1330 Fillmore Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-655-5600) on Saturday, May 24th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. While he is perhaps best known for the No. 1 smash hit "Ghostbusters," Ray Parker, Jr. has enjoyed quite a versatile career, not only as a much sought-after guitarist, but with a number of other hits to his credit, as a performer, songwriter and producer. A Detroit native, Parker Jr. started out at 13 in the legendary Motown studios then continued his professional career at 18 as a member of Stevie Wonder's band. Ray moved on, creating his own band "Raydio" and then continued his chart topping career as a solo artist. He has had 24 Billboard Top 40 and R&B hits and has penned an impressive catalog of songs that have been recorded by Rufus and Chaka Khan, Barry White, Love Unlimited Orchestra, Herbie Hancock, Nancy Wilson, Patty Labelle, The New Edition, Diana Ross, Cheryl Lynn, Brick, Teddy Pendergrass, Leo Sayer and Coolio. There is a $29-$39 cover.
