NYC: BROADWAY SINGS AT THE WEST END - THURSDAYS

A New Open mic night has begun hosted by Sarah Rice & Craig Pomranz on the Upper West Side! BROADWAY SINGS AT THE WEST END will be held every Thursday night (it started on May 1st) at THE WEST END (955 West End Avenue, NYC - 212-531-4759) from 9:00 to 11:00 pm (signup after 8:30 pm). Matthew Martin Ward will be at the piano. An open mic with multi-award winning hosts Sarah and Craig bring the ultimate New York experience to the Upper West Side with all kinds of talent singing all genres of music -Broadway, Pop, Jazz, Classical, all are welcomed. There will be a drawing at the end of the evening to get to sing another song and get a free cover for the following week. There will also be a group sing of the Tonight Quintette from West Side Story. There is a $7 cover - no minimum.


NYC: BENDELACREME: TERMINALLY DELIGHTFUL

RuPaul's Drag Race Season 6 contestant BenDeLaCreme makes her New York debut with the premiere of Terminally Delightful at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Tuesday, May 20th at 9:30 pm. Additional performances are scheduled for Wednesday, May 21st at 9:00 pm; Thursday, May 22nd ad 7:00 & 9:00 pm; Friday, May 23rd at 7:00 pm & midnight; and Saturday & Sunday, May 24th & 25th at midnight. Drag Race exposed the world to BenDeLaCreme - now it's time for BenDeLaCreme to expose herself to you! Terminally Delightful is an intimate evening of story, song featuring BenDeLaCreme's signature high camp hijinks as she peels away the outer layers of artifice to reveal the artifice within. As a performer, emcee, party hostess, and event promoter BenDeLaCreme has appeared in theaters and nightclubs from coast to coast ever since the fateful day in 2002 when she realized that normally unsavory behavior could be dressed up in fancy clothes and called "Performance Art." Formerly based in Chicago, but with lucite heels now planted firmly in Seattle, DeLaCreme combines her background in the performing & visual arts with a love of spectacle, glamour, and Saturday morning cartoons to create a thick sludge of sparkly entertainment certain to stick to your ribs! NYC: SETH BISEN-HERSH'S 300TH SHOWCASE EXTRAVAGANZA

As of this May, Seth Bisen-Hersh will have produced, emceed and accompanied 300 showcases. To celebrate he is putting on the 300th Showcase Extravaganza at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) consisting of six concerts of his work with 84 showcase alumni. Show are scheduled for Tuesdays, May 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th; Friday, May 9th; and Thursday, May 22nd, all shows at 7:00 pm. Each evening will contain 20 songs from his musicals and cabarets over the years. There is a $12 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: CAROLE J. BUFFORD IN 'SHADES OF BLUE' METROPOLITAN ROOM

Carole J. Bufford launches her brand new show, Shades of Blue, at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Thursdays at 9:30 pm, opening on May 8th and running though October 9th. A throbbing and thrilling show full of tempestuous blues numbers from their southern roots to their northern heights and culled from material spanning a century, Shades of Blue is filled with blues and songs inspired by the blues made famous by the likes of Bessie Smith, Johnny Cash, The Animals, Amy Winehouse, Dinah Washington, John Legend and more! NYC: THE MEL & EL SHOW RETURNS TO STAGE 72

Melanie Kinard and Ellie Dunn (MEL & EL) are back atSTAGE 72 (158 West 72nd Street, NYC - 212-362-2590) on Thursday, May 22nd at 7:00 pm with a brand new edition of their long-running monthly comedy extravaganza. Created and performed by Melanie and Ellie, with composer Patrick Spencer Bodd, THE MEL & EL SHOW is what would happen if Tina Fey and Amy Poehler sang slightly dirty songs while sharing ridiculous stories about their lives and friendship. MEL & EL features new material every single month, and phenomenal drink deals. NYC: MATT DOYLE IN SOLO 54 BELOW DEBUT

Matt Doyle is thrilled to be making his solo 54 Below Debut on Thursday & Saturday, May 22nd at 7:00 pm & 24th 8:30 pm at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551)! Doyle recently starred as Elder Price in The Book of Mormon on Broadway. He is also known for his work in War Horse, Spring Awakening, and Bye Bye Birdie. Matt was most recently seen starring in the Off-Broadway smash, Jasper in Deadland. Co-Written by composer Will Van Dyke, Matt's EP's (Daylight and Constant) both launched in the Top 40 on the iTunes pop charts. Will and Matt have played numerous sold out shows in New York City at venues such as Feinstein's, Joe's Pub, and Le Poisson Rouge. Matt promises an energetic night of his original music, as well as crowd-pleasing pop classics, to 54 Below. NYC: SONGS FROM SUBMISSIONS ONLY - LIVE

Join Submissions Only co-creators Kate Wetherhead and Andrew Keenan-Bolger on Thursday, May 22nd at 9:30 pm at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) in celebrating the songs of their hit web series. Under the direction of Michael Croiter, the Submissions Only House Band, along with a number of exciting guest stars, will perform a selection of music from all three seasons of the show, including original songs like "Two Cents," "Wrong Spot," and "Nobody Does Mean Like Me." There is a $30-$40 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.

NYC: THE MUSIC OF ANDREW GORDON & DANNY BAIRD

Making their cabaret debut as a composing team, Andrew Gordon (Composer) & Danny Baird (Lyricist) present an evening of songs from one yet-to-be-produced musical and one yet-to-be-finished musical at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Thursday, May 22nd at 11:30 pm as part of the club's Late Night Series. The event will feature a bevy of phenomenal singers, musical theatre in-jokes, and smorgasbord of awkward theatrical moments carefully curated by Catie Davis (Director.) Catie and the cast join Andrew & Danny in what can only be described as "loving nepotism." Featuring Gerianne Perez, Rachel Geisler, Sara Glancy, Tatiana Wechsler and Ben Chavez. NYC: SIMON GREEN: SO, THIS THEN IS LIFE

59E59 Theaters presents the US premiere of SIMON GREEN: SO, THIS THEN IS LIFE, created by Simon Green and David Shrubsole, performed by Mr. Green, with musical arrangement and accompaniment by Mr. Shrubsole. The show explores paths un-trod, mistakes repeated, and ridiculous responses to an ever-changing world. Simon Green and David Shrubsole cast their gaze over life's rude awakenings. Reteaming after their Drama Desk-nominated Traveling Light, Green and Shrubsole concoct a theatrical marriage of words and music that transports audiences to a former, more innocent incarnation of themselves. Simon Green: So, This Then Is Life begins performances at 59E59 THEATERS (59 East 59th Street, NYC - 212-279-4200) on Tuesday, May 20th for a limited engagement through Sunday, June 1st. Simon's cabarets, with musical director and arranger, David Shrubsole, are familiar in London's major cabaret venues and have played New York at Feinstein's, The Metropolitan Room, Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall and the 59E59 TheatersPress opening is Thursday, May 22 at 7:15 pm. The performance schedule is Tuesday through Thursday at 7:15 pm; Friday at 8:15 pm; Saturday at 2:15 & 8:15 pm; and Sunday at 3:15 & 7:15 pm. Tickets are $35 ($24.50 for 59E59 Members)

NYC: HAL LINDEN AT THE CARLYLE

Hal Linden, 83, brings his one-man show, "Hal Linden Live in Concert," to THE CAFE CARLYLE (35 East 76th Street, NYC - 212-744-1600) on Tuesday through Saturday, May 20th through 24th with performances at 8:45 pm. Best known as Barney Miller, the eponymous star of the 1970s sitcom in which he played the down-to-earth captain of a police precinct in Greenwich Village, Linden has appeared in 20 Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. In addition to playing "Sing, Sing, Sing" (made famous by Benny Goodman and Gene Krupa) and other songs on the clarinet, he will croon Broadway hits, including "In My Own Lifetime" from "The Rothschilds," backed by a seven-piece band. There is a $70-$130 cover ($50-$60 at bar) cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.
