The Felipe Salles Group Ugandan Suite CD Release Party will be held at THE REGATTABAR at the Charles Hotel (1 Bennett Street, Cambridge, MA - 617-395-7757) on Wednesday, May 21st at 7:30 pm. The band features Felipe Salles, Saxes, flute; Tucker Antell, Saxes; Maxim Lubarsky, Piano; Keala Kaumeheiwa, Bass; Bertram Lehmann, Drums; and Rogerio Boccato, percussion. A native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Dr. Felipe Salles is an Assistant Professor at of Jazz and African-American Music Studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst since 2010. Being an active musician in the US since 1995, he has had the opportunity to work and record with prominent jazz artists like Randy Brecker, David Liebman, Lionel Loueke, George Russell, Gunther Schuller, Sam Rivers, Herb Pomeroy, Jerry Bergonzi, Jovino Santos Neto, Oscar Stagnaro, Duduka Da Fonseca, Maucha Adnet, Tony Lujan, Luciana Souza, and Bob Moses.

TORONTO: LATIN NIGHT: LOUIS SIMAO TRIO

The Louis Simao Tiro (Louis Simao - vocals and guitar; Bill McBirnie - flute; and Daniel Stone - cajon) will perform atTHE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) on Wednesday, May 21st at 8:00 pm as part of the club's Latin Night Series. As a multi-instrumentalist working in a variety of genres, Louis Simao has performed and/or recorded with Nelly Furtado, Dominic Mancuso (2010 JUNO winner), Michael Occhipinti's Sicilian Jazz Project (2009 JUNO nominee), Justin Rutledge, Guinga, Henrique Cazes, Patricia Cano, Daniela Nardi's Espresso Manifesto, Sophie Milman, Alan Hetherington, Bill McBirnie, "MARIA SEVERA" at The Shaw Festival, Tapestry New Opera Works, The Lester McLean Band, Eliana Cuevas, Aline Morales and Luanda Jones. As a songwriter and composer, Simao's music reflects his Portuguese heritage of folk songs and fado, as well as Brazilian, African and jazz influences. Described as "utterly unique" (CBC Radio One), he was the winner of the 2007 USA Songwriting Competition in the World Music category with his song, "Fado Torto". Simao has opened for Cesaria Evora and Celso Machado, shared a night with Brazilian reggae stars Chico Cesar and Rita Ribeiro, toured Portugal (2006); and in 2008, was the invited artist of the Portuguese Consulate and the Instituto Cam•es at the Festival de Printemps in Azzemour, Morocco. There is a $12 cover.

WASHINGTON, DC: TOM & DELORES KING WILLIAMS AT BLUES ALLEY

Tom & Delores King Williams will perform on Wednesday, May 21st at BLUES ALLEY(1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141) with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Delores King Williams is a native of Baltimore, Maryland, where she began her musical studies at the Peabody Conservatory of Music. She continued studying music and theater and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. Ms. Williams is equally at home in theatrical productions as well as concert settings and has performed in musicals, plays, cabarets, commercials, concerts, and video productions. Tom Williams began studying trumpet and drums as a child and joined the renowned Duke Ellington Orchestra after studying at Towson State University. He served 8 years in the US Army and was a featured soloist with the jazz ensembles. In 1991 Tom took 2nd place in the Louis Armstrong International Jazz competition and has played with stars including Patti Labelle, Liberace, Stevie Wonder, and Rosemary Clooney. BETHESDA, MD: DOORS WIDE OPEN AT BETHESDA BLUES

Doors Wide Open will appear at BETHESDA BLUES & JAZZ SUPPER CLUB (7719 Wisconsin Avenue, Bethesda, MD - 240-330-4500) on Wednesday, May 21sr at 7:30 pm. They will be performing jazz of all dimensions: Jazz, Funk, Fusion, and a touch of R&B. Doors Wide Open (Sax - Mathew Zavitz; Guitar - Matthew Walton; Drums - Derrick Simmons; Keys - Jerel Crockett; Bass - Jonathan Derricott) will take you on a musical journey through time and genres of music and will leave you wanting more.
