FLORIDA: JEFF HARNAR AT THE ROYAL ROOM

Jeff Harnar will appear at THE ROYAL ROOM at THE COLONY HOTEL (155 Hammond Avenue, Palm Beach, FL - 561-659-8100) on Fridays & Saturdays, May 2nd & 3rd and 9th & 10th in the show Does This Song Make Me Look Fat? (Lighter Fare for a Spring Night), which will highlight the wit of Noel Coward, Cole Porter, Sammy Cahn, Comden & Green, Tom Lehrer, Allan Sherman, Stan Freberg, Rick Crom and more. The show comes directly from a sold-out run at London's The Crazy Coqs following a critically acclaimed run at The Laurie Beechman Theater in New York City. Broadway conductor and pianist Randy Booth will lead his trio featuring Paul Shewchuck on bass and Dana Cyr on drums. Harnar is the winner of the 2012 Noel Coward Foundation Cabaret Award. New York engagements include The Algonquin Hotel, Feinstein's at The Regency, Birdland, The Metropolitan Room, and Off-Broadway at 59e59 Theaters. Carnegie Hall appearances include both the Cole Porter and Noel Coward Centennial Galas. Jeff was artistic director and host of the three seasons of "The American Songbook in London" at The Jermyn Street Theatre and Pizza on The Park. Television credits include "The 1959 Broadway Songbook" (PBS). Jeff tours nationally with Shauna Hicks in their symphony "Pops" concert "I Got Rhythm: Mickey & Judy's Hollywood." Jeff has released four solo CD's and is the winner of three MAC Awards and three Back Stage Bistro Awards. Call for cover/minimum information.

LOS ANGELES: BARBARA HIGBIE CD RELEASE SHOW AT FREIGHT & SALVAGE

The Barbara Higbie Quartet will celebrate the release of Barbara's new CD 'Scenes from Life' at FREIGHT & SALVAGE (2020 Addison Street, Berkeley, CA - 510-644-2020) on Saturday, May 10th at 8:00 pm. Members of the quartet are Barbara Higbie: Piano/ violin/ vocals/ ukulele, Linda Tillery: Vocals/ Percussion/ Harmonica, Katrina Krimsky: Piano, Aryeh frankfurter: Violin/ viola/ cello/ nyckleharpe. The CD title is Scenes from Life. It's heartfelt soundtrack music straight from life experience. Every piece evokes something tangible from the last 12 years, from traveling the world playing music, to the joys of parenting and the depths of caring for parents with Alzheimers. There is a $23 cover.

SAN FRANCISCO: GEORGE CLINTON & PARLIAMENT FUNKADELIC

George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic perform at YOSHI'S (1330 Fillmore Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-655-5600) on Thursday, May 8th at 8:00 pm and Friday & Saturday, May 9th & 10th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. George Clinton is one of the foremost innovators of funk music, and was the mastermind behind the bands Parliament and Funkadelic. Clinton was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 with 15 other members of Parliament-Funkadelic. Parliament and Funkadelic captured 40 hit R&B singles, including No. 1 hits "Flashlight," "One Nation Under a Groove," "Aqua Boogie," and "(Not Just) Knee Deep." Clinton's collaborators included keyboardist Bernie Worrell, guitarist Eddie Hazel, bassist Bootsy Collins, saxophonist Maceo Parker, trombonist Fred Wesley. On stage, spectacle ruled the day, with an enormous mothership, outrageous costumes, and marathon performances. Over the past decade, Clinton has continued to play sold-out shows across the globe, while a countless number of his songs have been licensed for film and television. Currently, he is compiling new and old songs for an exclusive online-only release, fighting for artist rights through the P-Funk Initiative. Clinton also continues to support the youth through the Mother's Hip Education Foundation, and through donations to the Barack Obama Green Charter High School in Plainfield, New Jersey. SAN FRANCISCO: JAZZ & BLUES VOCALIST KIM NALLEY AT FEINSTEIN'S

Jazz and blues vocalist Kim Nalley will appear at FEINSTEIN'S AT THE NIKKO (222 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA - 866-663-1063) on Saturday, May 10th at 7:00 pm. With an international reputation as one of world's best jazz and blues vocalists, Nalley has graced concert halls from Moscow to Lincoln Center. A true Renaissance woman, Kim Nalley has also been a featured writer for JazzWest and San Francisco Chronicle's "City Brights," shortlisted for a Grammy nomination, a produced playwright, a former jazz club owner, an accomplished stage actress, a history academic, and an avid lindy hop & blues dancer. Her many philanthropic endeavors include founding the Kim Nalley Black Youth Jazz Scholarship. In looks, Kim Nalley exudes the aura of a diva from a by-gone era. Vocally, she has pipes to burn packing a 3 octave range that can go from operatic to gritty blues on a dime, projection that can whisper a ballad yet is capable of filling a room with no microphone, and the ability to scat blistering solos without ever losing the crowd's interest or the intense swing. There is a $35-$45 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.
