MAC and Bistro award-winning singer/ pianist Steven Ray Watkins celebrates the music of the 80's at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) on Thursdays, May 1st, 8th & 15th at 7:00 pm. The show i in honor of his dreaded 50th birthday. He is joined by Rachel Hanser, Wendy Russell and Lennie Watts. Lennie Watts directs. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: NOBODY DOES IT BETTER: THE GENIUS OF MARVIN HAMLISCH

Nobody Does It Better: The Genius of Marvin Hamlisch, will be presented at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) on Thursday, May 8th at 9:30 pm. Under the musical direction of Jimmy Horan, members of the New York City Gay Men's Chorus pay tribute to Marvin Hamlish, a New York treasure who conquered Broadway, Pop and Film and captured the hearts of the whole world. NYC: "THEY MADE ME DO IT: FROM BESSIE TO JIMI AND BEYOND"

Vocalist Hadiza Dockeray with Steven Bargonetti, guitar bring "They Made Me Do It: From Bessie to Jimi and Beyond" to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Thursday, May 8th at 7:00 pm. Hadiza Dockeray is a vocalist and songwriter from New York City. With her 4-piece band, she has performed at local venues including The Cutting Room, Triad NYC and The Bitter End, among others. Hadiza has also recorded jazz standards with Grammy Award-winning pianist and composer Arturo O'Farrill, and performed the songs of Porter and Gershwin with acclaimed pianist and composer John DiMartino at The Harvard Club of New York City. In April of 2013, she released her first self-produced EP, Chapter 4, to favorable reviews. Steven Bargonetti is a graduate of Columbia University. As lead guitarist for the Broadway Show HAIR, Steve was featured playing the Jimi Hendrix archetype. He is also an alumnus of numerous other Broadway shows, including The Color Purple, Caroline or Change, The Full Monty, Starlight Express, Hello Dolly, and many more.He has played with such notables as Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Jeff Beck, George Benson, Faith Hill, Vince Gill, Celine Dion, Beyonce, Lena Horne, Eartha Kitt, Johnny Cash and Chuck Berry, among others. Steve's debut album was produced by Quincy Jones. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: CAROLE J. BUFFORD IN 'SHADES OF BLUE' METROPOLITAN ROOM

Carole J. Bufford launches her brand new show, Shades of Blue, at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 - ) on Thursdays at 9:30 pm, opening on May 8th and running though October 9th. Musical Direction is by Ian Herman. A throbbing and thrilling show full of tempestuous blues numbers from their southern roots to their northern heights and culled from material spanning a century, Shades of Blue is filled with blues and songs inspired by the blues made famous by the likes of Bessie Smith, Johnny Cash, The Animals, Amy Winehouse, Dinah Washington, John Legend and more! From sly and sexy comedy numbers to high drama, Carole is a singer/actress who always raises the stakes on everything she sings. Created by Carole J. Bufford & Scott Siegel. Produced by Scott Siegel. NYC: JINKX MONSOON: THE INEVITABLE CONCERT

After touring the world with The Vaudevillians, RuPaul's Drag Race favorite Jinkx Monsoon makes her much anticipated return to New York and THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) with JINKX MONSOON: THE INEVITABLE CONCERT. Monsoon will appear live with her band, premiering an evening of songs from her upcoming CD, The Inevitable Album. The CD will be released the week of the show and will available to buy at the theatre. Performances are on Thursday through Sunday, May 8th through 11th at 7:00 pm. Jinkx Monsoon is the alter ego of Jerick Hoffer, who graduated with a degree in theatrical performance from Cornish College in Seattle. With ten years experience on stage, Hoffer is a seasoned Portland-born entertainer who has captured the attention of his native northwest region. As early as 2006, Hoffer appeared as the lead dancer in the world's largest drag queen chorus line, which made the Guinness Book of World Records. By 2012, he had advanced to roles in Seattle theaters, playing Moritz in "Spring Awakening" (produced by Balagan Theatre) and Angel in "Rent" (produced by The 5th Avenue Theatre). In 2013, Hoffer played Hedwig in "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" (produced by Balagan Theatre and Seattle Theatre Group) and began an international tour of The Vaudevillians, an acclaimed performace piece co-created with Major Scales. NYC: TEAL WICKS AT 54 BELOW

Teal Wicks, Broadway star of Wicked (Elphaba) and Jekyll and Hyde (Emma Carew), brings a night of songs inspired by folk, rock, soul and blues to 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551 - ) on Thursday, May 8th at 9:30 pm. She will present an acoustic set led by the visionary Jasper Grant (musical director of The Color Purple, Altar Boyz), reimagining of works from Janis Joplin, Sarah Vaughan, Van Morrison, Patty Griffin and more of the musical storytellers that have inspired Teal on her journeys from coast to coast. It will be a night celebrating the spirit of the underdogs, survivors, troubadours, seekers, lovers and dreamers. There is a $35-$35 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.

NYC: LATE NIGHT AT 54 BELOW: JOE CASSIDY ROCK STAR (BOTH INCHES)

Joe Cassidy presents 'Rock Star (Both Inches)' at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551 - ) on Thursday, May 8th at 11:00 pm as part of the club's Late Night Series. Before there was law school, before there was Broadway, there was a dream: to be a rock star, without the rehab. By way of the mean streets of Wauwatosa, WI and from the Broadway company of If/Then, Joe Cassidy brings back this musky goblet of rock first performed at Joe's Pub back in 2003. Performing the songs of his early influences and idols, this night features music by Kansas, Styx, Foreigner, The Who, The Allman Brothers, U2, and many more, backed by a first-rate group of musicians, and some very special guests! There is a $25 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.

NYC: BROADWAY SINGS AT THE WEST END - THURSDAYS

A New Open mic night has begun hosted by Sarah Rice & Craig Pomranz on the Upper West Side! BROADWAY SINGS AT THE WEST END will be held every Thursday night (it started on May 1st) at THE WEST END (955 West End Avenue, NYC - 212-531-4759) from 9:00 to 11:00 pm (signup after 8:30 pm). Matthew Martin Ward will be at the piano. An open mic with multi-award winning hosts Sarah and Craig bring the ultimate New York experience to the Upper West Side with all kinds of talent singing all genres of music -Broadway, Pop, Jazz, Classical, all are welcomed. There will be a drawing at the end of the evening to get to sing another song and get a free cover for the following week. There will also be a group sing of the Tonight Quintette from West Side Story. There is a $7 cover - no minimum.

NYC: STEVE TYRELL AT THE CAFE CARLYLE

NYC cabaret favorite Steve Tyrell will perform at THE CAFE CARLYLE (35 East 76th Street, NYC - 212-744-1600) on Tuesdays through Saturdays, May 6th through 17th at 8:45 pm, with an added late show on Saturdays at 10:45 pm. (No show on Friday, May 9th). The Grammy Award-winning vocalist is truly a renaissance man. In his almost 5 decades in the music business, he has achieved great success as an artist, producer, songwriter, music supervisor, and performer. His hits "The Way You Look Tonight," "The Simple Life," "Crush On You" and "The Sunny Side of The Street," have launched thousands of weddings and millions of romances. He's held top positions at Standards, Swing, and Big Band outlets with a devoted following at key Adult Contemporary Radio. He has appeared with The Boston Pops, twice with The New York Pops, The Nashville Symphony, and The Houston Symphony on several occasions. In 2005, after the passing of the legendary Bobby Short, Steve was asked by New York City's Cafe Carlyle to take over their revered Holiday Season of November and December, which Mr. Short had not missed in 36 years. Now Steve has become a fixture in New York and has played the Cafe Carlyle to record crowds for the last 7 years. As an artist, all 7 of his American Standards albums have achieved top 5 status on Billboard's Jazz charts, and his first album "A New Standard" was amongst the best selling jazz albums for over five years.
