NYC: SUNDAY JAZZ BRUNCH WITH GABRIELLE STRAVELLI

Bistro Award winning vocalist, Gabrielle Stravelli, returns with her Sunday Jazz Brunch on August 11th at LE PESCADEUX (90 Thompson Street, NYC - 212-966-0021), a French restaurant in the heart of Soho. They will play three sets from 12:30 to 4:00 pm. She will be joined by Saul Rubin on guitar and Pat O'Leary on bass in this charming boite that offers a great, well-priced menu and cozy atmosphere. Award-winning vocalist Gabrielle Stravelli has garnered critical acclaim and a loyal following through her unique take on material from the new American songbook as well as classic standards by artists as varied as Pink Floyd and Duke Ellington, Dolly Parton and Johnny Mercer. A trained actor, Gabrielle has a soulful sensitivity for the story in the lyric. Gabrielle has performed on stages from Amsterdam to New York including Carnegie Hall, Iridium Jazz Club, Birdland, and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. Reservations are strongly suggested. No cover, no minimum.

NYC: NYU JAZZ BRUNCH WITH COMBO NUVO

The NYU Jazz Brunch with Combo Nuvo (Dave Schroeder, woodwinds; Billy Drewes, woodwinds; Brad Shepik, acoustic guitar; Rich Shemaria, piano; Mike Richmond, cello; John Hadfield, percussion) will perform at THE BLUE NOTE(131 West 3rd Street, NYC - 212-475-8592) on Sunday, May 4th at 11:30 am & 1:30 pm as part of the club's Sunday Brunch series. Combo Nuvo is a unique improvisational ensemble featuring some of New York City's leading jazz artists. The group combines influences ranging from jazz and classical to blues and world music. Individually, these artists have performed with such music legends as Miles Davis, Ravi Shankar, Yo Yo Ma, Natalie Cole, Oscar Castro Neves, Randy Brecker, Horace Silver, Pat Metheny, to name a few. Combo Nuvo is as comfortable performing at the Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City as it is collaborated with symphony orchestras around the world including the Costa Rica National Symphony, The United Arab Emirates Philharmonic, and i Solisti dell Orchestra del Teatro Verdi, in Florence, Italy. The group is comprised from artist/faculty members from New York University's Steinhardt Jazz Studies Program. There is a $29.50 cover - Price includes brunch, music and a drink.

Dine on their very special and affordable brunch menu while enjoying the best of jazz, swing and "The Great American Song Book". TORONTO: SUNDAY BRUNCH WITH FELIX WONG & PETER CAVANAGH

Felix Wong and Peter Cavanagh will perform at THE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) on Sunday, May 4th at 12:30 pm as part of the clubs Sunday Brunch series. Felix Wong is a Toronto based jazz pianist. He began playing the piano at the age of 4. He is a self-taught jazz musician. His many musical influences include Bill Evans, Esperanza Spalding, Michael Brecker, Roy Hargrove, Joshua Redman, Jaco Pastorius and more. He is a former member of the Toronto All-Star Big Band, where he has performed with the legendary Doc Severinsen and Jackie Richardson. Peter Cavanagh is a jazz saxophonist in the Greater Toronto Area. His aspirations for music began at a young age. In high school Peter won an award for "Outstanding Jazz Soloist" at an international festival in New York. Peter's influences include Cannonball Adderley, Wynton Marsalis, Keith Jarrett, Dexter Gordon, Marcus Miller, Michael Brecker, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Herbie Hancock, Chris Potter, Artie Shaw and many more. His musical interests lie in swing, bebop, modal jazz, funk and Latin jazz. Peter is also a skilled clarinet and flute player. There is no cover charge.
