Combine mastery of keyboard technique with decades of real world experience playing with no one less than the most celebrated artists of the last half century, and it's no wonder Green has been hailed as perhaps the most exciting hard-swinging, hard-bop pianist to ever emerge from Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers. Green's historic Sunnyside release Magic Beans in 2013 marks Benny's first self-produced trio recording of all original compositions in a career that spans decades: notably as a star sideman with Betty Carter, Art Blakey, Freddie Hubbard, and Ray Brown and culminating in over 20 years as a leader himself. BOSTON: SARA GAZAREK & PETER ELDRIDGE DUO DOUBLE BILL

The Sara Gazarek Duo (Sara Gazarek, vocals & Josh Nelson, piano) and the Peter Eldridge Duo (Peter Eldridge, vocals & Matt Aronoff, bass) will perform in a double feature jazz show at THE REGATTABAR at the Charles Hotel (1 Bennett Street, Cambridge, MA - 617-395-7757) on Wednesday, April 16th at 7:30 pm. The piano is the most versatile of all instruments. It can become a suit of armor or a bouquet of flowers. It can keep time and it can stop time. When paired with the human voice, the possibilities are limitless but the outcome is unpredictable. Vocalist Sara Gazarek and pianist Josh Nelson have aligned their musical spirits in a way that would make any artistic duo envious. Gazarek's top flight interpretations of the vast and varied American songbook are buoyed by the sensitivity of Nelson's supple command and they have transfixed audiences from New York to Tokyo. They have a telepathic understanding that has come about through more than a decade of friendship, not just hundreds of hours on the bandstand and it blankets any audience lucky enough to hear their swinging high-wire act of trust and commitment. and raised in Southern California, Josh Nelson is a first-call jazz pianist, composer, teacher, and recording artist. At 35 years old, he has already performed and worked with some of the most respected names in music. 'Foolish Hearts' is a relatively new duo featuring vocalist/ pianist/ composer Peter Eldridge (grammy-winning New York Voices, MOSS) and upright bassist/composer Matt Aronoff. Having joined forces a little more than a year ago, Foolish Hearts presents its own originals and arrangements of favorite jazz and pop tunes with an organic sensibility combining voices, piano, bass and percussion. The duo has toured the west coast and Europe, including a week in Latvia last Spring, and performs regularly in NYC. Peter and Matt just released the duo's first studio project, an EP entitled 'New Definition'. Peter recently released his fourth solo album called 'Mad Heaven' on the Palmetto label, which Jazz Review said "showcases Eldridge as a major player in vocal jazz, an artist of extraordinary depth and conviction'. Matt is an up and coming sideman on the New York music scene. You can also hear him as a member of the electro-pop band Xylos. There is a $25 cover.
