TORONTO: TEREZ MONTCALM CD RELEASE

Terez Montcalm will release her new CD at THE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299 - ) on Monday, November 4th at 7:00 pm. Terez started her career as a pop singer-songwriter in Montreal and made a complete u-turn to Jazz in 2007 when she released the "Voodoo" album, produced by Michel Cusson and Marquis records and eventually signed with the prestigious Dreyfuss jazz label in Paris, France. She sold about 80,000 copies of it and has been touring Europe ever since. She then joined the Universal family and is very pleased to come for the first time to the Jazz Bistro to present her latest release, "Know I'll Be Alright." The CD features some of the best jazz musicians on the French scene: Paul Lay - piano, Christophe Wallemme - bass, Pierre Alain Tocanier - drums and Jean S•bastien Williams - guitar. They will be joining her on stage at Jazz Bistro. Montcalm's trademark being her very deep and raw voice, she is also known for the way she twists standards to make them her own, as well her own soulful compositions. There is a $15 cover.

"THE MOJAVE PROJECT", part of the "Brazilian Jazz Series", with Roni Ben-Hur & Nilson Matta, will be presented atBLUES ALLEY (1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141 - ) on Monday, November 4th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. A pioneer in the art of playing Brazilian jazz on an acoustic bass, Nilson Matta has been a force in the evolution and popularity of Brazilian jazz. For over four decades, he has shared stages across the world - at iconic clubs and major festivals - with such luminaries from Joe Henderson, Trio Da Paz, Don Pullen to Yo Yo Ma. His first release on Motama Music was 2011's Mojave, on which he joined forces with guitarist Roni Ben Hur. Call for cover/minimum information.

DC: THE BOHEMIAN CAVERNS JAZZ ORCHESTRA MONDAYS

The Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra performs every Monday night at BOHEMIAN CAVERNS (2001 Eleventh Street N.W., Washington, DC - 202-299-0800) with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Still the Hottest Big Band in the City, The Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra is a 17 piece powerhouse force cofounded by baritone saxophonist Brad Linde, trumpeter Joe Herrera and club owner Omrao Brown. The BCJO presents a variety of music from big band literature and features some of the District's best musicians. Music from Ellington, Basie, Strayhorn, Thad Jones, Oliver Nelson, Maria Schneider and originals by band members will embrace and challenge the tradition of big band repertoire.
