NYC: KAT GANG & NATE MAYLAND IN "THE WISHBONE PROJECT"

NYC: KAT GANG & NATE MAYLAND IN "THE WISHBONE PROJECT"

ScoBar Entertainment Presents: Kat Gang & Nate Mayland in "The Wishbone Project" atIRIDIUM JAZZ CLUB (1650 Broadway, NYC - 212-582-2121) on Tuesday, April 3rd at 10:00 pm. The Wishbone Project is a New York based jazz quintet featuring Kat Gang's singing and lyrics and Nate Mayland's trombone and compositions. They are joined by Adam Platt - piano, Dick Sarpola - bass and Ray Marchica - drums. When Kat & Nate's paths crossed at a rehearsal in the Spring of 2011 the immediate awareness of a kindred musical spirit found them beginning what would be a prolific songwriting partnership. Their inspiration soon took shape as a reliably creative vehicle for Kat's lyrics to be expressed through Nate's music. They have performed monthly at The Iridium in New York City as well as several other venues. Kat and Nate have created a distinct sound by exploring the unique blend of the trombone and voice. The similar range and crystal timbre of both allow for either to take the lead while the other compliments, or for the two of them to launch into fiery harmonized bebop lines. Their original songs are lyrical and reminiscent of the jazz standards, while their take on standards such as Old Devil Moon have brought audiences to their feet. There is a $25 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

NYC: BUSTED: THE MUSICAL RETURNS TO THE LAURIE BEECHMAN

Theatre Askew presents a return engagement of BUSTED: THE MUSICAL, written and performed by Bianca Leigh at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Thursdays, March 8th, 15th, 22nd & 29th at 7:00 pm. Chicago meets TransAmerica in BUSTED: THE MUSICAL, actress Bianca Leigh's recounting of the events surrounding her arrest for alleged solicitation against the backdrop of the "Black Monday" stock market crash of 1987. While cooling her 6-inch heels in the clink awaiting arraignment, Bianca looks back at her past and tries to make sense of how a skinny Jersey boy with dreams of becoming a great Shakespearean actress ended up as a high-priced dominatrix. Directed by Theatre Askew artistic director Tim Cusack, BUSTED features original songs by Tony-winner Jeff Whitty (Avenue Q), Obie-winners Taylor Mac (The Lily's Revenge) and Ellen Maddow (The Talking Band), Jeff Domoto (Cornbury: The Queen's Governor), Super Buddha (Debbie Harry, Scissor Sisters), Matty Pritchard and Isam Rum (The Din), and William TN Hall. The production features musical direction by William TN Hall and costuming by Arthur Oliver. There is an $18 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.
