NYC: MARY FOSTER CONKLIN HOSTS NEW FM RADIO SHOW ON THE WEB

Jazz/cabaret vocalist Mary Foster Conklin has announced her debut on WFDU 89.1 FM, hosting a weekly show every Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00 pm (Eastern Time), streaming on their HD2 channel, Jazz and What's More. You can find it on the internet at http://www.wfdu.fm - and clicking on the "Listen to HD2" button. You'll be given a player for your device and will hear the channel instantly. There's also a free app you can download for both iPhone and Android. The program is called "A Broad Spectrum" and offers up an assortment of music by Women Who Inspire - Writers, Composers, Instrumentalists and Vocalists (there will be airplay of male artists too, in the Honorable Men-tion slot). NYC: SALON THIS SUNDAY! - THEME FOR THE EVENING: "SONGS OF THE SOUTH"

SALON - that unique, multiple award winning, Weekly Open Mic Event, created and hosted by Mark Janas will return to ETCETERA ETCETERA (352 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-399-4141) on Sunday, May 15th, from 7:00-10:30 pm. (Sign-Up Begins at 6:15pm) The optional theme for the evening is "Songs of the South". Remember, any material, on or off theme, is always welcome at Salon. Co-Host will be MetroStar Winner Minda Larsen! The Salon events are produced by Tanya Moberly. Salon is an ongoing open entertainment event in which singers, writers and musicians share their talent with each other and audience members. There are no reservations; seating is on a first come/ first served basis. All types of material, on or off theme are always welcome at Salon. They enthusiastically welcome instrumentalists, poets, playwrights, essayists, comics, illusionists and performance artists. Please limit your selections to three or four minutes in length (including introductions). The Salon Spotlight will feature Carole Demas (the original Sandy in GREASE) & Sarah Rice (the original Johanna in SWEENEY TODD)! Please also bring clear, complete charts for the accompanist to read. There is a $10 cash cover collected at the door and a $15 food/ drink minimum (cash or credit) per person.

PALM SPRINGS, CA: FRANCESCA AMARI: "IT'S HIP TO BE SQUARE - GUILTY PLEASURE SONGS" May 15th!

Francesca Amari will perform her show "It's Hip To Be Square: Guilty Pleasure Songs" on Sunday, May 15th at 2:00 pm at THE ARTHUR NEWMAN THEATRE at the JOSLYN CENTER (73-750 Catalina Way, Palm Desert, CA - TKTS: 760-325-2731). The show will feature all those songs you love - but hate to admit to. Joining Francesca for this show, which is part of the 7th season of Sundays In Summer Cabaret Series, will be pianist Wayne Abravanel. Ms. Amari has been performing since 2007 and is one of the most popular singers in the desert and may be seen weekly at a number of local venues. Originally from Michigan, Francesca moved to Palm Springs in 2010 and immediately took off and is now in great demand for her singing and acting. "It's Hip To Be Square" is full of songs that have been flooding the airwaves over the years which lyrics and melodies that you can't help but sing along with – so be ready. Pianist and musical director Wayne Abravanel is a New York transplant who conducted or played in dozens of Broadway musicals and touring companies. He teaches Fine Arts at Coachella Valley High School, and is accompanist to many local singers weekly for Cabaret On The Green Open Mic at AJ's On The Green in Cathedral City, hosted by Les Michaels, who produces the Sundays In Summer Cabaret Series. Tickets are $11 cash only and available before the show at the box office, and opens at 1:00 pm.
