TODAY IN NYC: SUNDAY OPEN MIC AT THE MET: DROP IN FOR A BAGEL & A SONG
THE METROPOLITAN ROOM(34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) has a long history of providing a stage for new performers who go on to become some of the region's most loved artists. Its also known for providing thousands of talented singers and entertainers a stage to keep the arts alive and growing for all to enjoy. Held on the second and fourth Sundays each month, from 12:00 noon to 2:30 pm, and presented and hosted by well-known artists and producers, Susan Winter and Deb Berman, the "OPEN MIC AT THE MET" is an important part of this tradition. This is not your average Open Mic! The iconic stage, amazing acoustics, high-end equipment, and experienced sound engineer create a concert-like experience in Metropolitan Room's friendly, warm and sexy environment. Come to sing or just to watch and listen! Each Open Mic offers different pianists to accompany your performance.
NOTE: Singer: If you wish to perform, no advance registration by phone is permitted. If you can't get to the club in time for registration, the host may be able to add you to the end of the roster. If you don't get the time slot you want, you may be able to swap with someone else. No special preference is given to kids, pros, or to those traveling long distances.
